Too Young

If I'm too young to fall in love, why do you keep running through my brain? If I'm too young to know anything, why do I know that in just not the same. // Original product of Olivia Turner. Do not copy or share without permission. ©2015

When I was little he and his family used to hang out with me all the time.

We are both 'only childs.'

We still hang out.

"Are you ready to go out? They're coming back to our house later" my mom adjusts her necklace.

"Yes, I just need to fix my hair" I grab a brush from her dresser and brush through my flat-ironed hair.

"Alright, come downstairs when you're ready"

After I add another layer of mascara (which is all I wear because I'm fourteen), I run downstairs.

I slide on my pair of vans he gave me for my birthday.

His name is Aaron. He's older than me. He's 16.

My parents and I get into our van and drive to some Mexican restaurant.

"Aaron!" I run into his arms.

"Cathryn!" He hugs back tightly.

He puts me back on my feet and I look behind him.

There's another boy.

"Who's that?" I whisper.

"This is Jonathan. I have to have him over tonight because his parents are out and he's grounded from throwing a party the last time he was home alone"

I laugh.

"Alright kiddies" his mom walks out of the restaurant, "I have the buzzer. We have to wait out here until it buzzes"

"How long will that be?" Aaron asks.

"Maybe like, fifteen minutes"

-

After we all eat, we walk back outside.

"Alright, so we'll head to your house?" His dad asks for assurance.

"Yes" my mom nods.

"Can I ride with them?" I ask.

"We will get home first, and I need you to clean the office up so you three can hang out in there...So no"

"Why didn't you just say so?" I scoff and climb into the backseat again.

-

We pull into the garage and I immediately dart to the office and clean up my cups and trash.

They pull in minutes later.

"Guys, do you want to go in my basement or what? Cause they're gonna watch a movie, but it's horror and my mom won't let me" I say a little bummed out.

"Dang, I want to watch horror"Jonathan says.

"Well, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you-"

"Alright" he walks into the living room.

"Go ahead" I say to Aaron.

I walk upstairs to my room and flop onto my bed.

I soon hear a knock.

I don't like people going into my childish room, so I open it slightly.

It's Aaron.

He smiles.

I slide out into the hallway and shut the door.

He sits on the floor in front of me.

I do too.

"I feel bad that you're up here alone. Sorry about Jonathan, but do you want to find a movie on Netflix like always?"

"Yes" I smile.

-

"They're watching some romance movie now, mind if I join?"Jonathan asks.

"No" I situate myself in my huge chair.

The office has a TV that only accesses to Netflix.

Aaron sits on an old couch to my left.

I stand up and offer the chair to Jonathan.

"Where will you sit?" Aaron asks.

"On the floor?"

"Sit with me" he pats the cushion next to him.

I grab some candy from the kitchen cabinet and join him to watch the 'Avengers' for the hundredth time.

"What is that?" He whispers as I unwrap some candy.

"I don't know I can't see" I whisper back.

He squints and laughs.

"I have no clue what that is"

"Try it and see" I shove it in his mouth.

He spits it out and half of it rolls away.

"Well?"

"Tootsie Roll" he says disgustedly.

"Eww!"

-

Halfway through the movie I lean more and more to see the screen since its small.

Soon enough, I'm kind of just leaning on him and he doesn't seems to care at all.

He moves some pillows from behind him and piles them on top of me casually.

It's like a big puffy blanket.

-

"Guys?" I hear a woman say.

It's my mom and his.

I realize I fell asleep on his leg.

It would've been his shoulder but he stretched his body out when I fell asleep I guess.

Aaron wakes up a little and laughs at the scenario.

Jonathan's passed out on the chair.

"Sorry it's so late. It's 1:00AM" my mom shrugs her shoulders.

"Dang" Aaron laughs.

-

"I had fun! See you at school tomorrow?" I say after I hug him.

(They come over on school nights sometimes.)

"For sure" he waves and leaves.

We don't talk much at school, but I think he's a little embarrassed because I'm a little Freshman and he's a Junior.
