I'm bullied because I'm different.
Because I don't have a home.
Because I can't afford good clothes.
Because rude things often just slip out of my mouth.
Oh, and because they're all scared that I'll accidentally kill them with my 'magic powers'.
So maybe I'm not your average teenager, but it's not my fault.
I'd give anything to just be normal and accepted.
Of course, things aren't just going to be that way.
So this is my story.

3. Hellfire

I sit through my first class knowing that if I can just get through it I'll actually have someone to talk to at lunch. Not just anyone, Oscar. Just thinking about him sends chills down my spine and I don't even know him how can I say that?

Finally, recess comes, and I see Oscar at his locker. He greets me, but is cut off by Ashlie. "Don't talk to the freak. She'll just come after you and kill you in your sleep or something." She gets up on her tiptoes to whisper something in his ear, and an incomprehensible look crosses his face, and he turns away from me and walks off with Ashlie and her friends.

It feels like a knife is being twisted through my stomach, and I run to the bathroom, locking myself in a cubicle and trying not to cry. It doesn't work. Tears force their way through my eyes, and I light my hand on fire, pulling up my jumper and shirt, and gently holding the flame against my skin. The pain is beautiful torture, and I just want it to hurt more, more, more. I increase the intensity of the flame, and then turn it off, unable to handle it anymore. The pain is my reminder of the mistakes I've made. A reminder not to trust people. Even beautiful boys with electric eyes and souls filled with fire.

The bell rings to end the final period, and I get out of the building as soon as possible. Once I'm at a safe distance, I use the air around me to lift me up into the air. I flip and twirl as the miniature town passes below me, the people as small as ants. Nothing matters up here, usually, but somehow he still does. I change course, I never want to trust anyone again. I'll never have to trust anyone again. I'll never have to fight again.

I glide to the ground at the edge of a towering cliff. One drop off here and it'll all be over.

I sit on the edge, watching the red sun dip below the clouds into the earth. At least my last sight will be a beautiful one.

Once the sun has moved on, and the moon has taken its place, I finally stand up again.

And without a second thought I throw myself off the edge.

I squeeze my eyes closed as I'm buffeted by the air. It's almost instinct to control it, to slow me down, but I resist the urge.

I open my eyes as I feel a slight change in the air, as if someone is near me. Oscar. I must be hallucinating, he's just falling beside me, intense worry in his eyes. We near the ground, and then I'm being picked up by an eagle, and placed gently on the ground. The eagle morphs back into Oscar.

"What the hell just happened?" I breathe out.

"You threw yourself off a cliff. I thought you would stop yourself somehow, I saw you flying earlier."

"You can morph into different animals."

"Yeah. It's... a long story. Maybe you'll find out if you just take a deep breath and explain to me why you just tried to kill yourself."

I want to tell him, I want to tell him everything. I want to tell him of the years I'd been bullied, and how he was the last straw. "I- You went with Ashlie before," and before I could continue I burst into tears. Stupid, weak, I want to hurl myself off that cliff again.

A warm arm wraps around me, and it feels like someone is finally here for me.

But he left me, he left me, he left me.

"I had to find The Elemental, I didn't know it was you. It would've saved us both a lot of pain, that Ashlie is bloody awful to be around."

I choke out a laugh, "The Elemental?"

"You don't know? You don't know anything about what you are?"

I shake my head, and he runs a hand through his hair. "This is going to be harder than I thought..."

I wipe the tears out of my eyes and turn to face him, "Then start explaining."

He takes a deep breath, "Seventeen years ago, a woman gave birth to twins on a blue moon. Legend says that these twins would have the power to control all four elements between them. Their powers would not be hindered by age, moon, stars or sun, and only together would they have the power to defeat the greatest evil, foretold to come on their 18th birthday. But someone found out about both of you, and they kidnapped you, giving you to different families. Your sister was better off, her new parents thought that her powers were wonderful, and she was treated well. It has taken us all this time to find you both due to the old, dark magic used to keep you hidden."

"So basically I have a sister and we're both some super-special people who are expected to save the world." Wow, this is going to be a lot to wrap my head around.

"Pretty much. Come on, I think it's time for a family reunion."

I watched, wide eyed, as he got up and transformed into an eagle, then took off, expecting me to follow.

Not knowing what else to do, I shifted the air around me and shot into the sky. Anywhere must be better than this place. Anywhere I'll be accepted more than I am here.
