5. Top 5 movies I saw this August- Harrybanty

Since the beginning of this year I have been a movie person. Before now, I was the last person on earth to want to spend a hour and 30 minutes in front of the TV and watch a movie. I was converted when I saw the twilight series. Ever since, a week hardly goes by that I don’t see up to three movies. I’m doing some catching up so sorry if some of the motion pictures in this chart are old, I saw them recently.

5. Maleficient

Main actress: Angelina Jolie

Producer: Joe Roth

Year of Release: 2014

I never thought a character can be both villain and hero at same time, the film’s main character, ‘maleficient’ played by Jolie has both attributes. This one tested my logical reasoning, at one point I couldn’t tell right from wrong, good from bad, justice from crime. Jolie put in such a wonderful performance, my number one celebrity crush. I hope Brad doesn’t see this XD

4. Drag me to Hell

Main actress: Alison Lohman

Producers: Grant Curtis, Robert G. Tapert

Year of release: 2009

The tittle of this movie portrays, literally its content. One of the best horror films I’ve seen. Everything seemed to go for the mouth of Christine Brown (Alison Lohman), a haunted Handkerchief, gross vomit, a fly, full fore arm, even formalin preservative from a dead corpse……. Ewwww.

I didn’t see the final scenes coming though, it got me thinking throughout the cast. The ‘Lamia’ is one of my scariest villains, I think I’ll do another top chart for that. I won’t forget to mention the talking goat scene XD, swearing actually. It got me rolling on the floor.

3. The Dark knight

Main actor: Christain Bale

Producers: Emma Thomas, Charles Poven, Christopher Nolan

Year of release: 2008

I should do a disclaimer on this one: this is a superhero film that is not a superhero film. Ever since I saw ‘Equilibrium’, I have been a fan of Christain Bale, he has a way of portraying his emotions. Forgive me if I don’t mention ‘Batman’ that much because Batman is not what makes this movie so interesting to me, it is the Joker, portrayed by the late Heath Ledger (R.I.P). what a character! The villain had more influence than the Hero, Batman, throughout the movie.

My favorite quote by the Joker: “you want to know how I got the smile on my face”?

Bruce was certainly stretched to his limit. Every great hero needs a great Villain indeed (Wikipedia). Bad wins over good in this one.

2. I, Frankenstein

Main actor: Aaron Eckhart

Producers: Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Richard Wright, Andrew Mason, Sidney Kimmel.

Year of Release: 2014

There was a tussule in my head to choose between ‘I, Frankenstein’ and ‘Noah’ for my number two spot, but then I opted for ‘I, Frankenstein’ due to it’s wider audience than the religious epic, ‘Noah’. Ironically, both films portray angels ascending into the heavens when they die.

I, Frankenstein has a hint of religion also, but on a smaller note. Packed with action almost throughout the entire length of the film. It’s very predictable though with a not so great Villain but when it comes to stone flying angels, ascending dead angels and descending dead demons. This film did it for me.

1. World war Z

Main actor: Brad Pitt

Producers: Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ian Bryce.

Year of Release: 2013

Okay, this one has no flaws, just pros and pros. The lovely couple made my top five (Brad and Jolie), am I a  stalker? XD

This is the best Zombie apocalypse film I’ve ever seen. It Gives me a whole lot of new ideas for a Movella. Action packed, mind catching, it got me sitting on one side at a moment. I hear talks of a sequel, I’m waiting!
