2. Friends Forever

I rushed around my room trying to gather my things while doing my hair and makeup all at once. I over slept a few minutes, not enough to make a big difference, but I'm a very slow morning person and I'm always running late for school. I sighed giving up on trying to straighten my hair and threw it into a pony tail. I don't know why I insist on trying to do something different with my hair because it never stays. I put the last finishing touches of makeup on as I checked the time. It was quarter to nine and school started in fifteen minutes. I sighed again checking my appearance one last time in the mirror. I grabbed my bag off my bed and headed to the front door. I decided on my black converse to go with my blue skinny jeans and my black hoodie. I glanced at the time on my phone again. I had ten minutes to get to class and it was about a ten minute walk depending how fast I walked. I sighed grabbing my keys and heading out the door. I slipped my headphones in as I started my walk to school. It was a chilly spring/summer morning and it looked like it was going to rain later. I prayed it didn't until the evening because I didn't have a jacket to use walking home. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes and enjoying the cool fresh air. A smile crept onto my lips as I looked up at the trees. Birds were chirping, not letting the gloomy day ruin their song. I was snapped out of my daze as I heard a bell go off into the distance. I looked down at my phone and I still had five minutes, it was just the warning bell. I contemplated on running the rest of the way or not but I honestly didn't feel like it. I just hoped my teacher wouldn't be too mad if I was a few minutes late. I picked up my pace and made it to the front doors with two minutes to spare. As I walked into the school I was instantly greeted by many conversations and people rushing about, not wanting to be late to class. My smile faded as I walked up the stairs to my locker. I was putting my bag away and grabbing my Chemistry text book and binder as Sam walked up to me. I admit I have been intentionally ignoring her. I felt bad but I haven't been in the greatest place lately and school has been more stressful than ever. I surprisingly haven't had a mental breakdown yet considering I graduate in three days and I haven't gotten into any of the 10 colleges or universities I applied to.

"Hey happy 12 year friendaversary!" Sam happily joked pulling me into a hug. I smiled hugging her back. I was grateful to have a friend like her with her bubbly personality. She was always there no matter what. I could ignore her for a whole month and she would be there by my side like we never stopped talking. I had to constantly remind myself to not push her away because I don't know what I would do without her. "You didn't forget did you?" She asked pulling back from the hug.

"Of course not," I laugh reaching into my bag, "I know I haven't been the greatest friend lately, but I would never forget the day we became friends" I reassured her. She smiled as I gave her a small box, taking one from her in return. We had a tradition of giving each other a charm for our bracelets each year to celebrate our friendship and the fact that we survived yet another year. I looked down at the box remembering the day we first met like it was yesterday.

*** flashback ***

It was a beautiful day in June and she was the new girl on the block. I was the first to notice her out of my group of friends and I instantly ran over to greet her. I was not a very shy kid when I was younger so no one questioned when I quickly introduced myself. She noticed me running over and met me half way.

"Hey I'm Scarlet, but you can call me Scar," I smiled sticking out my hand.

"Hey Scarlet nice to meet you, I'm Samantha, but you can call me Sam," she smiled back at me shaking my hand. We both laughed at the formal gesture. "You seem pretty cool Scar," she told me brushing her long brown hair out of her face.

I smiled at that. Maybe we could become best friends I thought to myself. "You don't seem so bad yourself Sam. I can see us becoming best friends," I told her hoping she was thinking the same thing.

"Me too!" She exclaimed and we both laughed.

"Hey why don't you come meet my four friends," I gestured to the four boys sitting on the grass across the street watching us, "I think you'll fit in with us perfectly," I smiled knowing I was right.

She smiled closely looking at the four goofs across the street, "They seem pretty cool. The one with dark brown/black hair is kind of cute," she giggled looking back at me.

"That's Calum, and by the way he's not Asian. He hates when people think that," I joked looking back at him.

She laughed looking back at him blushing a bit, "Well I can't wait to meet him."

"I like you and I'm excited to not be the only girl in the group anymore," I told her grabbing her hand and pulling her over to the boys. She just smiled and went along with me. She wasn't shy and she seemed very outgoing just like me. I knew from that moment on that we would become great friends.

*** End of flashback ***

Sorry this is short and not much but it's what I had already written out and I don't have time to finish the other part tonight because I have to be up early for school registration tomorrow. Anyways I hope its okay at least. Feedback would also be very appropriated by the way! Oh and fun fact, the first paragraph I wrote basically based on my life lol
