CHAPTER TWENTY

BEAUTY and the BEAST .part two.

Swinging into the next cargo container, Elliot locked eyes with the Fisher Family Logo, disgust and hatred in his eyes. After seeing Evelyn move on to the final car, Elliot thought he would have some fun, looking at the weapons, borrowing a few, tossing out the ones that weren’t needed. It was a fair price to pay, but he didn’t care. He had a job to do, and if no one else was going to do it, then he would have to do it himself.

Gripping the hilt of his knife, Elliot slashed, cutting the box in half. The blade that looked weak was more powerful than what anyone realised. That was the beauty of deception. You could act weak and helpless, and then destroy people. That was nice and beautiful. It was beautiful for Elliot seeing the fear in someone’s eyes. But he lied to himself. He had never killed anyone, he had never hurt anyone. But that was only because he had never come into contact with mortals and he didn’t have the courage to kill. He shouldn’t’ve been so afraid, being a Vloodmir ally he would’ve gotten away with it. It was the guilt that someone would get away for his crime which pained him and made him feel sick to the stomach.

A slam on the ceiling broke Elliot from his gaze. He sensed Evelyn above, and he heard her loud and clear. He heard everything she was thinking about, and it scared him, but there was another emotion which overcame his fear. It was pride. He was glad someone was scared of him, he was finally becoming the person he was destined to be, although he didn’t know it.

He was becoming a brute, a murderous, psychotic, morbid man who was feared.

Why would he do that? . . . Surely there had to be another reason . . . What if he’s, no, no I cannot think that way. He’ll be fine. I hope.

That was the jist of Evelyn’s thoughts, but with his Morality gone, he didn’t care. He should’ve, but he didn’t. He just wanted the job done, and he didn’t give a damn about how many people he killed, injured or maimed in order to get to his end goal. It really didn’t matter to him, not one little bit.

Back on the roof of the train, Evelyn looked ahead. Ten more cars ahead, there was the front. Looking back, Evelyn sighed and vanished, leaving Elliot bewildered. He looked around, suddenly angry. “Come on, Evelyn! Don’t hide now! It’s so, so nearly over!” He yelled, he turned, but he was too late to do anything. Evelyn was on the cargo carriage in front him, bolt of electricity, powerful and bright ready. “You don’t want to do this, Evelyn.” He called out, raising a hand. But she didn’t respond verbally. She slashed, cutting the connector between the two carriages. With the bolt gone, Evelyn looked at him and then lowered her head, the train slowly turning a corner.

The carriage Elliot was on carried on rolling, desperate to catch up. But it didn’t make it. Evelyn slowly vanished away from Elliot, his fists clenched, a sneer on his face and anger boiling his blood and keeping his mind racing.
