4. Emergency

Evie's POV:

I walked back to the dorm Mal and I shared in a sort of daze. When I got there, Mal came up to me, putting her hand on my shoulder. "Are you all right, Evie? Is Doug okay?" she asked. I squealed and hugged her tight. "I kissed him on the cheek. He liked it!" I said happily. Mal hugged me back. "That's great, Evie! So, he's okay then?" she replied. My heart sank. "Didn't Carlos tell you?" I asked quietly. Mal shook her head. "When he came back, he was all pale and shaky. We decided not to ask," she said.

My stomach churned as I told her what Baymax had said. Her eyes grew wide and her hands were shaking. "That's awful. And with Chad being one of the guys who did it......" She sighed. I nodded.

At the end of the day, I went to the office to grab Doug's homework for him. I walked up to his dorm and knocked. "Go away Chad," he said. "It's me, Doug. Evie," I sighed. The door opened and I saw Doug standing in the doorway. "You shouldn't be out of bed! could get hurt more," I said. He just shrugged and took the stack of homework from me with his good arm. "Why'd you think I was Chad?" I asked. He sighed. "He's been in here about ten times, insisting that he's sorry. I keep turning him down. But somehow, I know he means it. I just.......I dunno," Doug said.

I smiled at him and put my hand on his shoulder. "Don't be so hard on yourself. It's not your fault Chad was a jerk," I said reassuringly. " was," he murmured. I raised an eyebrow at him. He was about to open his mouth to say something else when Jay burst in. "Guys, we have to go! Emergency assembly in the main corridor!" He said before running off to tell more people. "C'mon Doug, you heard him!" I said. Doug ran after me to the main corridor, gritting his teeth. "Oh...sorry," I said, slowing down. Doug breathed a sigh of relief. "It's fine, it doesn't hurt that bad," he lied.

As we walked, million questions came to mind. What was wrong? Was someone hurt? Did someone break in? I guess we'll find out when we get there.
