Saved By Him [L.H]

He saved me from

I've been enslaved by his love without even realizing it.

17. Chapter 16

Hilary's POV

It's been a week since I've hung out with Luke and I've been keeping myself occupied with work and school. I actually collected interest in the online schooling. It wasn't as pressuring as it would be in actual school.

For this one time, Audrey was right.

But don't tell her I said that.

I've actually missed learning and always wanted to finish school but I let things get in the way to stop me.

As I was doing an assignment, I got a text message from Luke.

Get ready. Put something nice but not too nice on. Pick you up in 20 ;)

I stared blankly at my phone and pushed my glasses back from sliding.

Luke is gonna have to wait until I'm done with my lesson.

Tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, I looked to the laptop screen.

Based on the passage you were given, create a exponential function, solve and graph.

What does that mean?

"Yeah. It wouldn't kill to get ready." I said to myself. I closed my laptop and went to my room to get ready.

I picked out a black and white sleeveless crop top with some high wasted black shorts. To complement the outfit, I put a light blue jean flannel and my white converse. I left my hair all wavy like and pulled out my makeup bag.

As I pulled out the supply a knock was placed at the door.

I opened it to see Luke in a white muscle tee, black jeans, and black and white converse.

"Hey Hil." He said walking in. I smiled and waved.

"You can just make yourself comfortable. I'm almost done getting ready." He smiled and nodded.

"I'll be upstairs if you need me!" I jogged up the steps and into my bathroom, starting my makeup.

I looked to myself in the mirror and wonder which shade of lipstick would look best.

Light pink or pure red?

"Hilary are you almost done?" I heard Luke shouted out of the bathroom door.

"Hold your horses! I'm finishing up now."

"What are you even doing?" I rolled my eyes and continue to contemplate on which shade I should use.

"I'm coming in." Luke said turning the knob. I heard him mumble something but couldn't make it out. He stuck his head in and then came in rolling his eyes.

"Luke, what shade would look best?" I asked holding up the lipsticks.

"Lemme see." He took the red and opened it up.

"I don't know..." He said dragging the open lipstick on my face.

"What are you doing?!"

"What? I'm trying to see which one is better." He smirked.

I pouted. I looked in the mirror to see my perfectly done makeup ruined.

"Aw. Is little Hilary upset because her makeup is ruined?" He said hugging me from behind. His large arms wrapped around my tiny waist making tingles erupt in my body.

"Get off of me Luke." I said trying not to act like anything phased me.

"And now because of you Hemmings, I have to take off my makeup." I frowned.

"Well that was kinda the point."

"What do you mean? And get off of me already!"

"Fine." He chuckled. "And I believe you look beautiful without makeup." He shrugged.

Why did he have to be so damn cute?

"That's very nice but I need you to get out so I can take this off."

"Leave!" I laughed.

He put his hands up in surrender and walked out.

"Okay I'm ready." I walked down the steps grabbing my purse and my keys.

"Finally." I shot him a glare making him giggle.

Once I locked the door and stuff, I was revealed to a black Range Rover. Range Rovers were nice in my opinion. But Jeeps are what I like best.

"Are you gonna get in or are you just gonna stand there?"

I put a finger on my chin and took a deep breath.

"It's really nice outside so I think I'll stay here." I smiled sarcastically.

"I don't enjoy your sassiness."

"I don't care." I retorted rolling my eyes.

We got into the car and buckled up because safety first.

"Luke may I ask where we're going?"

"No." He said backing up.

"Why can't you tell me?"

"Because it's a surprise and if I told you then it wouldn't be a surprise."

"And what if I don't like the surprise?" I asked folding my arms.

"You ask too many questions, my child."

"But how do I not know that you're gonna bring me into the wilderness and kill me?"

"And why would I want to do that?" He tilted his head in amusement.

"I don't know, it can happen."

"It won't happen. Don't worry, just sit back and relax."

"Okay fine."

"Thank you." He sighed dramatically.

A comfortable silence took place among us as I watched the buildings pass by.

"It's gonna be a while until we get there." He said focusing on the road.

"Okay so maybe we should play two truths and one lie." I suggested.

"Sure. You go first." He said.

"No you go first."

"You were the one who suggested it, so you go."

"Fine." I grumbled. I thought hard and came up with one.

"Ok, I've had a snake as a pet, I've gone bungee jumping with my sister, and I favor Pepsi over Coca Cola."

"Wait you never told me you had a sister." He tilted his head.

Damn it Hilary! You were supposed to keep that to yourself!

I laughed nervously." Uh yeah. I do."

"What's her name?" He asked.

"Nyla." I played with my fingers.

"Well where is she? Does she live with your parents or somewhere else?"

"She's not living at all." I mumbled. I knew he couldn't hear.

"What?" He leaned in.

"She's no longer with me." I pronounced.

"What do you mea.." His words died.

"I'm so sorry. If I knew I wouldn't say anything but I didn't. I'm so sorry Hilary." He placed a free hand over mine.

"Don't be. I excepted the fact that she's gone and won't ever come back. I'm trying to learn how to express her death to other people. It's over with now." I tried to smile.

He squeezed my hand, giving me an encouraging smile. For the rest of the ride, Luke asked me if it was okay if I told him about her and so I did. I told him one story of how we almost got arrested for pulling a prank on a restaurant, who kicked us out before. Or how I was always able to talk to her about anyone or anything. How I miss her.

"Luke can you promise me that you won't tell this to no one? Please?" He nodded.

"I haven't even told Zachary about her. You're kinda like the first person I told after Audrey."

"Well I feel special." He smiled that ridiculously sweet smile.

"Don't get ahead of yourself Hemmings. I just felt as if I could trust you."

He rolled his eyes." Who wouldn't trust me?" He scoffed. I shook my head and laughed.
