The New Tynesiders - Little Town - Book 2

"The New Tynesiders" follows the story of Akan Badoe; a Ghanaian immigrant who comes to settle in the North East along with many other ethnic groups. His struggle for acceptance in a racially bigoted Britain are documented. The story also follows young Jimmy Connors Hepple the boy from the "Little Town" story who is adopted by an eminent surgeon and his wife after a tragic accident where both his parents are killed in a gas explosion.
Jimmy meets Sydney a young black boy and they become friends. Jimmy the adventurer wants to work in the Arctic like his hero Sir Robert Falcon Scott. Sydney a doctor. The story takes you on a journey through the boys childhood into adulthood where colour, creed,or religion have no boundaries. The New Tynesiders will take you back from 1948- 1966.

In the second half Wellington scored twice in the first five minutes and both tries converted it was now 37-3 and an up hill task for the Hurricanes. Leni Apisai went over in the dying seconds and it was converted by Vince Aso to make the scores 37-10.

They went to the player’s lounge where all the drinks were free so the girls got themselves a beer. Jeff got Jenny a beer and came and sat down on the plush leather arm chairs. It was about thirty minutes later that the player’s started coming in They came and sat with Jeff and began asking him what he was doing in New Zealand.

He told them that Antarctica studying plants.

“Looks like you have been studying the birds as well here.”

 The girls all started laughing. Reggie Goodes and Jeffery Toomaga Allen brought them all signed shirts and presented Jeff with a special plaque with the team crest and a framed photo signed by the whole team.

Thanks lads said Jeff.

Tana Umaga explained how Jeff was on the winning side for the British Lions and scored the winning try against the all New Zealand all Blacks’side. Later that evening they all went to the Capitol restaurant as guests of the team. It certainly had turned into a day the two three girls would never forget.

Jeff and the girls thanked the lads for a great evening and promised to return the compliment the next time the All Black’s side were over in England.

They got into the station wagon and drove back to Bolton Street. Jeff asked if he could use the CB Radio to speak with his boss.

When he got through Martyn told him he wouldn’t be able to get over until Tuesday at the earliest as there was another weather front coming over. “I’m sorry mate said Jeff.”

“There’s nothing we can do but sit tight until the storm breaks Jeff, so don’t worry.

Is there anything that you want brought back. Yes a chicken and mushroom pizza with plenty of cheese on it.”

 “Done my friend; see you all soon bye.

He asked Jenny if it was alright for him to stay over until Tuesday.

“Why wouldn’t it Jeff.”

“I don’t want to overstay my welcome.”

“You’re not a hotel guest here Jeff, you’re my boyfriend there’s a difference.

“Thank you Jenny; I’m used to girls dumping me after a one night stand. I have never had a relationship before and can I be honest here. There hasn’t been anyone that I wanted a relationship with until now that is.

“No one has affected me the way you have Jeff; we get on so well and I feel as if I’ve known you all my life not just one day.

“I want us to go on seeing each other to see where we can go from here.

“That’s is fine Jenny but what happens in six months when I have to go back to
