Secrets *Marauder's Era Fanfic*

(Yes, I know it's a crappy title, but I actually think the story's pretty good!)
Alex Chase is the new girl at Hogwarts. But she put a twist on the stereotypical shy new girl. Alex is funny, outgoing, smart, and a prankster. Everyone thinks that she's pretty much an open book, and her best friends always know how she's feeling. But, like everyone else in the world, she has secrets. Hers are particularly big. And big secrets cause trouble, everyone knows that. So what will happen when those secrets stop being into secrets? Will everything fall apart? Or will it only make her stronger?

3. Chapter Three: NEW FRIENDS!!!

"GRIFFINDOR!" the hat shouted, and the table furthest to my right cheered. McGonagall took the hat off of me, and started calling off the next name from a list. I walked over to the Griffindor table, keeping that lazy smirk on my face.

I spotted Lily further down the table and was heading towards her, when someone grabbed my arm. I looked down, only to see Shaggy from the train. I rose my eyebrow. "Yes?" I asked impatiently. He let go of my arm and nodded towards an empty seat next to him, and I realized all the boys from the train were sitting there - Remus, Peter, James and Shaggy. I bit my lip, glancing up at Lily, who was chatting with her friends. Shaggy followed my gaze, and rose his eyebrows. "You want to sit with Evans?" he asked, surprised. I saw James perk up at the mention of Lily's name, and look over in her direction.

I looked down at him, surprised as well. "You know her?" I asked. He nodded and replied, "James over there is infatuated with her. Won't leave the poor girl alone."

"It looks like he's leaving her alone right now."

"Only because it's our welcome back feast. And, trust me, he'll go and pester her in a bit, just wait and see," he replied. "Anyways, will you sit with us or not?" I bit my lip again and glanced between them and Lily. Lily wasn't exactly asking for me to sit with her, so I didn't answer and just sat down next to him. I saw him smirk and I rolled my eyes.

"Whatcha talking about?" I asked James and Remus, who were talking to each other in between bites of food. Remus looked over at me, like he had just noticed me. He smiled. "Hey, Alex," he said. I nodded. "Hey." James looked at me and answered my question. "I'm trying to get him to join the Quidditch team, he'd be a great keeper!" James said. I moved my gaze to Remus and looked him up and down, not in a creepy way, and nodded. "Yeah. He would make a good keeper," I said. Remus turned to me. "You traitor!" he said. "You're not supposed to agree with him!"

"And I bet if you ask James I'm not supposed to agree with you. And I'm not agreeing with anyone. I'm just stating my opinion," I said calmly. Remus sighed and looked down at his food. "Fine," he agreed. "I'll try out for the Quidditch team." I waited until I was done chewing, then spoke. "Yeah, I'm gonna try out, too. We can go together." When I said this, Shaggy and James's heads spun around so that they were looking at me. "You play Quidditch?" they asked incredulously and in sync. I rose an eyebrow. "Well, yeah. Why would I try out for the Quidditch team if I didn't play?" I asked. James leaned toward me, "What position?" I shrugged. "Well, I prefer seeker, but I can play as chaser and beater as well. I'm not a very good keeper, though. Too small," I said nonchalantly. The boys - Remus included - all looked impressed. James leaned back and looked me over, but not in a creepy way, of course. More like he was evaluating me. After a moment he nodded. "Yeah, you have a seeker's build. So you're trying out?" he asked.

"Yeah. I'm gonna see if I can be a seeker."

"Well, I'm the new Quidditch captain, and our old seeker just graduated..." he trailed off, looking at me. As he was speaking, a smile began to spread across my face until I was full-out grinning. "Sweet!" I exclaimed. "So you'll get me a spot on the team?" James nodded, "Yeah, but only if you are good." I smirked at his comment. "Oh, don't worry, I'm good," I assured him. "I'll leave you in the dust." James smirked back at me. "Have fun with that."

"Oh, I will."

~Time Skip Until After Dinner~

Me and the Marauders - they told me what they called themselves on the walk to Griffindor Tower - were in the common room, talking by the fireplace. Well, except Peter, who had gone up to their dorm to sleep.

"Hey, Alex, why did you even come into our compartment?" Remus asked. I grinned. "Oh, that? I had just pranked some Slytherins and two of them were chasing me," I responded. They all burst out laughing. "What did you do?" asked Shaggy. "I threw a lit Filibuster Firework into their compartment. An oldie but a goodie," I said, still giggling. Everyone laughed again. "Who was in the compartment?" James asked.

"I don't know their names, but I think one was called Lucius. Or Lucy, I should say," I started, but was interrupted by laughter. "Also some guy with black eyes and black hair. Actually, he looked a bit like you, Shaggy." Shaggy had stiffened when I described the guy, but still instinctively corrected me. "Sirius." I sighed. "Fine, Sirius. Happy?" He smiled, "Very."

"Anyways, there were also two girls in there with them. A bleach-blonde girl and a girl with pitch black, wild hair. Oh, and I think the wild-haired one was cackling at some point," I said. "So, do you know them?"

"Well," said Remus. "We know Lucius Malfoy, and now that I think about it he was the one chasing you. And the wild-haired girl who was also chasing you, I think, is Bellatrix Black." I looked at Sirius. "Black? Like you?" He nodded, "We're cousins." I nodded, and then turned to James, who had started speaking.

"As for the other two, the girl was probably Narcissa Black, Bellatrix's sister. And the guy..." he trailed off, looking at Sirius, who nodded. "Well, he's Regulus Black, Sirius' little brother," James finished. I looked at Sirius. "Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't know he was your brother! Actually, when I pranked them I didn't even know about you..." Sirius looked up at me, then barked a laugh. "Oh, don't worry about it. We basically hate each other. We prank him all the time," he said.

I smiled in relief. "Well, that's good, I guess," I said, smiling. "But not the part about you two hating each other," I added hastily. He laughed again, but I could tell that he was getting tired of the subject. "It's fine," he assured me. I smiled and nodded, then turned back to Remus, who had just asked me a question. We talked for a couple hours, then went upstairs to bed in our respective dorms.
