In That Moment, We Were Infinite (Book 5)

Family stays together until the end. No matter how close the end is, you have to stay together. Now maybe I'm not the perfect person to say this, but to lose them before you even got a chance with them is tragic. Trust me, that I do know. But I swear, in our last moments, we were infinite. And I would never give that up. Not for anything.

Athena's POV

Weddings never seem to turn out right around here, do they? Well, let's start at the beginning of the day, when I woke up in Remus's bed. I sort of remember what happened last night. I was so scared about today, and I was crying and upset, and worried Fred didn't want to be with me. Remus offered to let me stay with him that night like we used to when I was younger. I made sure Tonks was okay with it, and she was fine, so when I stopped crying, we went to sleep.

When I woke up, he wasn't there, but the sweet smell of breakfast filled my nose. I'm sure I looked like a mess, but I couldn't have cared any less than I did then. Fred was at his parents house right now, probably doing the same thing as me.

I walked down the stairs and I was tackled in a hug by Eli. "It's the bride to be! How are you feeling?"

"Hungry," I muttered and walked into the kitchen. Remus had everything ready for me. There was bacon and eggs and two pieces of toast barely toasted, and a strawberry smoothie. "You little shit," I grinned and he opened his arms.

"It's your big day, and you deserve the best." He said and kissed my head.

"You are the best." I laughed and stayed in his arms for a moment. "God, I can't believe I'm getting married." I laughed.

"Me either. I remember when you were just a little girl running around and thinking guys were gross, and I was the only one you would ever hug." He laughed.

"Oh wow, I guess I did that, huh?"

"You did," he said. "Eat. And then you have to get ready. Your wedding is in four hours, you little shit." He said ad messed my hair up even more.

"Was that necessary?"

"Very much so." He smiled.

I sat down and ate my breakfast while Eli jumped up and down and danced around the room happily. I felt like throwing my fork at her, but I restrained myself. I out my plate in the sink and Eli squealed and picked me up and carried me to her room.

"Alright, you're going to sit right there while I work my magic." She said and poked my cheek. "Tonks is doing your hair and I'll be doing your makeup. This may take a while." She said and my 'aunt' stepped in the room.

"Well hello, Mrs. Weasley." She said and smiled.

"Not yet, anyway. Listen. I need to shower. I'll be ten minutes, maybe twenty. I don't want to be greasy for my wedding." I said and laughed. I ran into the bathroom and rushed through my shower and pulled on Fred's old shirt and some underwear and ran into the room. "Let's do this." I clapped.

They say me in a chair and Eli was in front of me, and Tonks was behind me. She blow dried my hair and began doing whatever. Eli smiled and grabbed her thirty thousand pounds of different makeup and began to work her magic as well. Within two hours I was done, and I've never felt so beautiful.

"Oh... Merlin." I whispered and I felt a strong urge to cry, but I didn't, obviously. I can't ruin my makeup.

"You look perfect." Tonks said and Remus stepped in the room. He looked at me and I thought he was going to faint.

"Athena... You're gorgeous-perfect. God." He whispered and stepped closer to me.

"Don't, you'll make me cry." I laughed and he hugged me.

"You have to get into your dress, people are starting to arrive." He said and I nodded.

"Is Fred here?"

"He was the first one." He said and smiled once more before leaving. Tonks clapped and grabbed my dress and carefully took it out if the bag.

"You're gonna be a princess!" She said and I took off what I had on and between the two of them, I've never got a dress on quicker than I did that day. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I had to bite down on my hand to stop me from screaming.

"Come on! You have to go get married! Come come come!" Eli ushered me out and when I got to the front door (the wedding was in our back yard) I slipped my shoes on and Remus waited for me on the other side. We got in the order we were walking down in and I took a deep breath.

"You look so beautiful. Just like your mother." Remus whispered and I smiled. "Your father would've been so, so proud of you. He wanted nothing more than to be here with you today."

And then it was our turn. And my heart started beating. And I couldn't breathe. But I had Remus right next to me, and he made sure I was alright. We walked together slowly, and Remus made sure I didn't trip, or embarrass myself in any way.

And then I caught Fred's eye. And he was crying. And I started to cry, because this was perfect. I just wished so many other people could've been here. Like my parents. Lily and James. Harry, Hermione and Ron. And professor McGonagall. But when I got up there, and Remus kissed my cheek, and Fred and him shook hands, I saw the tight lipped smile of Minerva McGonagall herself. (I dont know I cried at this part)

"Oh, hell. I love you so much." I heard Fred whisper to me.

"You don't even realize how nervous I was today."

"Oh, I think I do." He said anf kissed my forehead. "You're so gorgeous."

"Thanks to Eli and Tonks."

"No, you're gorgeous all the time." He said and I felt my face grow hot.

"Five years and you still make me all jittery," I laughed.

"Give it ten more years and tell me if I still make you feel that way." He whispered.

"I'll remember that. It'll be out in my important to-do notes." I smiled and he started to cry again.

"How did I ever get someone as perfect as you?"

"That's so cliché, but I ask myself the same question all the time, Freddie." I said and a tear fell down my cheek.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too, you little ginger fuck." I said and I had that familiar feeling in my stomach that made me all nervous but happy at the same time. And I swear, in that moment, we were infinite.
