In That Moment, We Were Infinite (Book 5)

Family stays together until the end. No matter how close the end is, you have to stay together. Now maybe I'm not the perfect person to say this, but to lose them before you even got a chance with them is tragic. Trust me, that I do know. But I swear, in our last moments, we were infinite. And I would never give that up. Not for anything.

Athena's POV

I sat down for dinner next to Remus and Fred. Eli and Anastasia were across from me, and every now and again I felt someone kick me. I glared at the girl across from me and she smiled innocently. At one point she kicked me hard enough to make me jump and scare the hell out of Fred.

Even though I was pissed at the bitch in front of me, it was pretty funny. "Your face was priceless," I laughed and he glared at me, but eventually ended up laughing along with me.

"I swear, you two are perfect for each other." Remus rolled his eyes at us and I poked his shoulder.

"Well of course. He's my lover." I said and grinned.

"I thought I was your lover!" Eli exclaimed and Anastasia dropped her fork. It landed with a loud clatter on her plate and it caused me to shoot her a dirty look.

"No big loss there, nobody would want to get with someone as disgusting as her." She muttered to Eli, but I heard her anyway. I think Fred did too, because he tensed beside me. I saw Eli give her a dirty look, and I don't know what the big deal was. If I wasn't too bothered by it, they shouldn't have been.

Twenty minutes passed without trouble. It was just us, having a good time. And then Anastasia 'finished' her dinner. There was still half of it on her plate. When she stood up?, she decided to go around the table past Eli, and then Fred. And then me. But she didn't go past me. No. She 'lost her balance' and the rest of her dinner spilled all over my hair and clothes.

"Last time I checked, you bitch, I wasn't a fucking garbage disposal." I said quietly. Everyone was staring at me, and she was trying to to laugh. "I'd hex you, but you're not worth it." I spat and stood up. "I'm going to take a shower, and I want her gone before I'm out." I said.

"You don't even live here!" Eli exclaimed and I stared at her.

"Really? Because the last time I checked, I lived here first, and quite frankly, if it weren't for me, you wouldn't have a fucking house." I told her and she shut up. I turned to to walk to the bathroom, and I locked the door behind me. Hot tears burned at my eyes, but I wouldn't cry. Not over this. Not over a stupid bitch like that.

Eli's POV

"Ana, come here." I said and pulled her into my bedroom. "What the fuck were you thinking!" I exclaimed. "Why are you being such a bitch to her?" She stayed silent, but when she looked at me she was crying.

"You don't think I see the way you two look at each other? Do you not think I see the way you two laugh and act? You're so fucking in love and I don't want to lose you to her. I really like you, Eliana." She muttered.

"First of all, no. She's getting married. And second of all, if you were worried about that why didn't you just tell me instead of insulting her? She already feels terrible about herself, and you saying those things won't help her get better."

"I thought..."

"Well you thought wrong." I snapped.

"You know what, I really, really like you. But I see the way you look at me compared to her. I'm done. We're done. I'm leaving." She shook her head and walked out of my bedroom. And the worst part is, I didn't stop her. I didn't say wait, we can work this out, or anything like that. And honestly, it didn't bother me, because maybe she was right. Maybe I did love Athena more than her.

Athena's POV

I stood in the shower for probably longer than necessary. I washed my hair twice to make sure all of the food was out of it, and I eventually got out. I dried myself off and noticed that I didn't bring any clothes. I groaned and wrapped the towel around me tightly and walked across the corridor to my room.

I nearly had a heart attack when I opened the door to see Eli laying on my bed. "Jesus," I muttered and walked over to my dresser. I picked out a Nirvana sweater and black skinny jeans, since it was October and very much cold outside now. I pulled out a bra and underwear and Eli looked over at me.

"She broke up with me."

"She broke up with you?" I scoffed. "Should've been the other way around." I said and dropped my towel and began to get dressed. It's not like Eli hasn't saw any of it anyway. We practically loved together during our last year at Hogwarts.

"Look, I'm sorry."

"You couldn't stop her," I shrugged and dried my hair a little more before throwing my towel in the laundry basket.

"I know, but I should've ended it when... Well last time." She said and I waved her off.

"It doesn't matter, she's gone now, right?" She nodded. "Good." I smiled and laid down next to her. "You know, I miss you."

"What do you mean? You see me every day." She asked, confused.

"Yes, I know. But we don't talk like we used to, Eli. Not since we were in school." I said and she laid her head on my chest as I wrapped my arm around her.

"Well you never have the time anymore. Neither do I, really." She said.

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that." I laughed nervously.

"Don't be. I guess it's on both of us." She said and I smiled.

"What possessed you to get with a bitch like that, anyway?" I asked her.

"She was really nice until she met you! I swear!"

"Never trust Americans," I laughed.

"Yeah, I learned that today." She joked. "I'm just joking."

"Me too, but really, watch out for some people, okay?"

"Okay." She said and I kissed her head.

"Let's move past this, alright? Let's move past it and we can be best friends again." I whispered.

"That sounds absolutely wonderful, Ms. Athena Black."
