Valuing Your Virtues (Book 4)

One thing you'll learn in life is to value your virtues. Even though it may be hard to do. After losing something so great, it might not be easy to get back on track, but it starts to become easier after you accept yourself for what you have, instead of what you've lost. After losing my father, it wasn't a happy time, but I'm here. I'm still alive, and I'm still fighting. Me, Athena Black, has realized something grand. That is to not give up until you've realized what you've got.

Athena's POV

A terrible ache settled in my body as I opened my eyes. I was laying on the couch of my childhood home and I saw everyone sitting around me. Remus, Eli, Fred, George, Harry, Ron, Molly, Arthur, Tonks and Ginny.

"Oh thank god," Fred sighed and kissed me. You could tell by his face that he had been crying, and I was confused.

"Why is everyone so upset?" I asked.

"We thought you weren't going to wake up. We found you after you had lost an unbelievable amount of blood, and... You didn't look like you had any life left in you." Remus said quietly.

"Well I'm fine now." I smiled and made an attempt at sitting up. I gasped in pain and laid back down immediately.

"Don't do that, you'll hurt yourself more." Remus said and I nodded. "Do you want to tell us what happened?" He asked. I swallowed hard, but agreed anyway.

"After... I ran after her, she tried to disapparate, but I grabbed her arm and I went with her. We landed and we started taunting back and fourth and I went to far, I guess, by saying she was related to a filthy blood-traitor like me, which was thee easiest way to upset her. I must've gone too far because eventually she used the Cruciatus curse... Multiple times. Maybe it was because I spit on her, but either way. Wait, no, I spit on her afterwards. Anyway, I ended up using the Cruciatus curse on her, and I must've lost concentration because... Well. She did this."

"What spell even is that?"

"Something like Sectumsempra I think. Maybe not."

"Well, you might... Fred, take her to the bathroom so she can see." Arthur said. He nodded and helped me up, and even though I was in an immense amount of pain, I was happy that Fred was with me.

"Come on, love." He said quietly and helped me into the bathroom. I wasn't facing the mirror because he was holding me so I couldn't look at it. "It might be a bit of a shock, but I need you to know that you're still beautiful." He said and kissed my head.

"Okay?" I answered and he let me look into the mirror. My reflection scared me, frankly.

"We wanted to wait to clean you off, just so you could do it yourself." He said. I took in a shaky breath and traced the new marks on my face. One long, white scar ran from under my eye to below my lip, and another one above my eyebrow, but it wasn't very long.

"Oh my... No..." I said and looked at him.

"There's.. More." He said and lifted up shirt so we could see my stomach. There was a huge healed gash across my stomach and I felt sick. "And, your arms and legs. But you don't need to see those." He said softly.

"Fred, they're disgusting." I cried and hugged him tightly.

"Not in the slightest. They're a part of you, and I love everything about you. Do not think that, because they're not."

"How could I have been stupid enough to run after her?" I asked him.

"You were angry and sad and upset. She killed your father, Athena. It's no shock that you'd want to hurt her the same way she hurt you." He said softly and kissed me. He listen me up and sat me down on the counter and I ran my fingers through his hair, messing it up a great deal.

"We'll..." He am tailed off by me reaching my hand up his shirt.

"We'll what?" I smiled innocently and trailed my fingers up his chest.

"Nevermind." He muttered and worked his way down to my neck. I knew he was going to leave a few marks, and I didn't really care, either. I bit my tongue to keep from making any noises and he pulled away. "No, we can't. You're hurt and I'm not hurting you more." He said and helped me off the counter.

"I'm fine, though. I-"

"Athena, stop." He said. I shut up and looked down.

"Help me back to the living room?" I asked quietly.

"Nah, I'm gonna leave you go yourself." He rolled his eyes, and it made me feel like an idiot for asking that.

"Right, let's go." I sighed and he wrapped an arm around me gently and let me lean on him.

"You okay?" Remus asked and helped me back down on the couch. I shut my eyes and nodded, then looked at him.

"At least I'll have a cool ass story on how I fought my cousin," I laughed humourlessly.

"Hey, you'll be as cool as Moody soon." Eli smiled.

"Nah mate, I'm already as cool as him." I grinned.

"Right, sure you are." All of a sudden I was engulfed in a hug by George.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked him softly. He was crying so hard. Harder than I've ever seen him cry before.

"You could've died if we hadn't have found you. You could've died!" He sobbed and I rubbed his back gently.

"Yeah, I could've. But love, I'm here now. I didn't die and I'm still here to annoy you." I said and stroked his hair. "I'm fine, Georgie." I said.

"I know, but what if we lost you?" He whispered.

"Let's not think of that, okay?" I asked and he nodded.

"Yeah... Okay." He sighed and wiped his tears. "I love you Athena."

"I love you too, twin number two." I smiled and he laughed.

"Oh so I'm twin number two?"

"Yeah, because she's marrying me." Fred grinned and kissed me.

"I swear, you two will drive me insane one of these days." I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, but you love it." Fred said.

"And us." George added.

"Oh fine, I guess you're right." I said.

"You know we're right," my fiancée pointed out.

"If you keep it up, you'll be wrong in about 0.05 seconds." I smiled. They looked at me, shocked and then I started to laugh. "I'm joking. I'd could never hate you guys."
