Valuing Your Virtues (Book 4)

One thing you'll learn in life is to value your virtues. Even though it may be hard to do. After losing something so great, it might not be easy to get back on track, but it starts to become easier after you accept yourself for what you have, instead of what you've lost. After losing my father, it wasn't a happy time, but I'm here. I'm still alive, and I'm still fighting. Me, Athena Black, has realized something grand. That is to not give up until you've realized what you've got.

Athena's POV

"How'd it go?"

"Fine, I already told you." I sighed.

"There's something else to it, I know." Fred said.

"Okay fine! I said she could spend Christmas with us." I said and scratched the back of my head.

"And... You didn't tell me?"

"I know I'm sorry! It was a heat of the moment thing and I didn't mean to say it but she doesn't have any family but me!" I exclaimed. He stared at me for a moment before smiling.

"That's great." He told me. I laughed and hugged him tightly.

"You're such an ass sometimes." I punched him on the shoulder lightly. Yes, my cousin is going to be staying with us for Christmas which is next month.

"You know, we still have a lot of planning to do." He said and trailed his fingers down my back.

"Yes, planning. Not sex." I said and slapped his hand.

"You're so mean to me sometimes." He pouted.

"Oh come on you big baby." I smiled and took a seat at the island in our kitchen. Fred took a seat next to me and wrapped his arm around me.

"So what have we got done so far?" He asked. I looked at him and blinked a few times.

"Absolutely nothing." I told him.

"Wow. Great start." He said and rubbed my back lightly.

"Oh god, I cannot believe I'm marrying you." I grinned and suppressed a giggle.

"Why not?" He said and brushed my hair off my shoulder and leaned down and kissed my neck. I let out a quiet laugh and but my lip.

"Because I love you. So so so much." I said and in that moment, I didn't care about anything. I knew whatever he was doing, he was going to leave a mark on my neck, if not, many marks.

"Well," he muttered against the skin on my neck. "I love you too. So so so much." He smiled and continued. He pulled away and I instantly missed the feeling of his lips on my skin.

"No no," I frowned.

"Let's save the wedding planning for later then," he said and picked me up.

"Good idea," I said and let him carry me to the bedroom. He laid me down gently and I grabbed his shirt and hauled him down on top of me. "I don't know what you think this is, but it isn't no romantic let's take our time thing. This is, you're fucked and I want you." I said.

"You're the boss." He said and rolled over so I was on top of him.

"As always."

***

"Never gonna get sick of that," Fred said and pulled me closer, kissing the skin under my ear.

"Even when we're really old?"

"Especially when we're really old." He said and sighed contently.

"Are you ready to plan our wedding now?" I asked.

"Yeah, let's go." He said and got up. I crawled out of bed after him and went to pull a shirt on but he stopped me. "No." He kissed me.

"Oh fine, you ginger fuck." I sighed and we walked to the kitchen. "I feel exposed." I sighed.

"Were two stories up, you're fine."

"Oh whatever. Let's do this." I sighed and at down.

"Okay, do you want a big or small wedding?"

"Oh, definitely small." I sighed. "I want the colours to be blue and purple. Is that cool?"

"Yeah. Who do you want there?"

"My family, yours. Friends. That's pretty much it, really."

"Yeah, do you realize how much family I have alone?" He asked.

"Yeah, I have like five people, calm down ginger spice." I sighed.

"I know, but you said-"

"We only have to invite immediate family." I smiled.

"Oh... I never thought of that." He said.

"Right, now what else?"

"Where are we having it?" He asked.

"Your mum said that we could have it in the back yard." I said quietly and traced the veins on the inside of my wrist.

"She never fails to impress, that woman." He laughed and kissed the top of my head.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." I said and sighed. "I wish I had've known if my mom was the same or not." I mumbled as I stared at the counter top.

"Aw, baby." I said and hugged me.

"It's fine, I'm over it now."

"Honey, don't kid yourself. You'll never be over that. She was your mom, and I think that'll always have it's mark on you." He said.

"Yeah, it will. But you just have to learn to block out the pain." I said. "Anyway, Eli and Artemis said that they wanted to be with me when I got my dress, so I think were going for that in a few months or something." I said. "Best man, maid of honour?" I said.

"I don't know about the best man, I really want it to be George, but like what if you get us messed up on the day?" He asked and laughed. I shook my head and rolled my eyes.

"Don't you know that I can tell you two apart? I've been able to for the longest time now." I laughed.

"Oh I know, I know. I'm just joking." He kissed me.

"You know that my maid of honour is Eli. There is no doubt."

"That's a surprise," it was his turn to roll his eyes.

"What?" I asked, grinning.

"You two did everything together, that's no surprise that you picked her for that." He shrugged.

"Oh you shut your mouth, it was no surprise you picked George. Damn, there's very few people who see you two apart." I teased.

"Well, what can I say. He's my other half."

"I know he is. And I don't think you two have been very close lately, and I don't want to he the cause of that. You better start being the twins I remember, alright?"

"Yeah, as soon as you start being with Eli again. Or Remus, for god sakes. You were always with him. And I don't know what happened, but you were happy then, and I miss that." He told me.

"You miss what?"

"You being with the people you love, and being happy. You rarely do that anymore." He said softly.

"I am with the people I love. I'm with you."

"Oh come on, Black. I'm not the only person you love."

"Well, Weasley. I think that both of us could start being with our family more. Who knows with what's going on now. We might need all the time we can get." I nearly choked on the last words as I remembered my father.

"You're right, Athena. You're right."
