Valuing Your Virtues (Book 4)

One thing you'll learn in life is to value your virtues. Even though it may be hard to do. After losing something so great, it might not be easy to get back on track, but it starts to become easier after you accept yourself for what you have, instead of what you've lost. After losing my father, it wasn't a happy time, but I'm here. I'm still alive, and I'm still fighting. Me, Athena Black, has realized something grand. That is to not give up until you've realized what you've got.

Athena's POV

Halloween rolled around quickly, and I was waiting for Fred to get home. I had just made dinner and I was sitting on the counter, reading a book.

"Honey, I'm home!" Fred called as he walked through the door.

"You're such a loser. Anyway, foods ready." I smiled.

"Great, but I do have something for you."

"What would that be?"

"Well you remember when I that I didn't have a ring when I asked you to marry me?" He asked. I nodded slowly. "Well, now I do. So," he paused and got down on one knee. "Will you marry me?"

"Of course I will." I said and kissed him. He smiled and slipped the ring on my finger. I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. It was a plain silver band with three coloured diamonds in it. One yellow one in the middle, and two red on each side. On the inside of it, it had forever engraved. "This is so amazing." I said, admiring the ring.

"Well, I thought that only and amazing ring would be fitting for an amazing girl."

"That's so cheesy," I laughed. He smiled and shrugged.

"I tried my best."

"And you succeeded." I told him and kissed him softly.

"That's good to know," he told me and I only kissed him again. "Athena,"

"Fred," I mocked. He rolled his eyes but continued anyway.

"Since it's Halloween, a night for massive mischief, I think it's time to get the group back together." He smirked.

"Mr. Weasley, I think that's a wonderful idea." I grinned. Let's just say, I came home that night too drunk to remember what happened. So when I woke up the next morning, Remus arrived not long after.

"This is a surprise. What's up?" I asked after I got my headache under control.

"I want to know why you showed up at my house at three in the morning, asking if I had wand insurance."

"Oh Merlin," I groaned.

"Also, when I asked you how drunk you were, you said you weren't, and that you were just a fairy." He said with a smile playing on his lips.

"I am sorry," I muttered. "I didn't think I did that," I admitted, blushing.

"Eli took you home, and I wondered where your fiancée was. Though I didn't find out until this morning." He grinned.

"What happened?" I asked, so embarrassed.

"I stepped outside, and I saw three boys all passed out on my front lawn." I shook my head and ran a hand through my hair.

"They're still there, aren't they?"

"As far as I know."

"You came to make me bring them home?"

"Precisely." He paused only for a few seconds before opening his mouth again and saying a few words that couldn't help but make me smile. "You remind me so much of your father, it's unbelievable."

"Mhm, I'm sure. Now let's go get them. They'd probably stay there all day if it meant not getting up. Fred is probably cuddling Lee, thinking it was me." (That rhymes :D)

"That... Is actually what he was doing."

"Yeah, let's go." I said. We apparated to his house and just as he said, my three best mates were laying on the ground, passed out, while Fred was in an embrace with Lee. "The fuck is wrong with them?" I asked myself, but honestly, the world will never know.

"How are you gonna wake them up?" Remus asked.

"Simple." I stated.

"Go on, then."

I walked up to them and leaned down close to their heads and smiled. This may be the last time I see them while they still love me. "WAKE THE FUCK UP BEFORE I KICK YOU WHERE THE SUN DONT SHINE!" I yelled and slapped each of them in the face.

"Bloody hell!" George sat up. Lee and Fred both looked at each other and jumped away.

"Why the hell are you three passed out on my godfathers front lawn?"

"Maybe because you didn't escort us home last night?" Fred suggests.

"Yeah, if you hadn't realized I was drunk out of my mind too. So try again." I said.

"I got nothing," George shrugged.

"Sorry professor- sorry Mr. Lupin." Fred apologized. I could tell he was refraining from rolling his eyes.

"I think it's time you can call me Remus, it wouldn't kill you." He smiled. I looked at him and back at the three before sighing.

"Go home you three, I'm staying here for a little while." I told them. They all nodded and Fred kissed me goodbye, and they all apparated at once.

"They're a handful, aren't they?" He asked me.

"Yeah, they are. But I love them. I really do."

"Anyway, come in." He smiled and opened the door for me.

"Why thank you," I said with a small smile. "Guess what," I said as he closed the door.

"Yes?"

"Look! Look look look!" I exclaimed, holding out my hand for him to see the ring I had been given the night before.

"That's... Wow. That's beautiful." He said softly. "I can't believe you're growing up so fast." He shook his head.

"I know, it's happening all at once and I'm scared. Remus, I'm so terrified. I don't understand how I can love someone so much yet be so scared of marrying them all at the same time?" I sighed.

"Look, Athena. There's no reason to be scared. I know you would be anyway, because who wouldn't? Even Lily and James had their woes. But they were so in love. It was scary how perfect they were together, and it's scary how perfect you and Fred are together. Really, don't even think for a moment that I'm lying to you." He said and pushed the hair out of my face before hugging me.

"I love you, Remus."

"I love you too, Athena." He told me.

"Hey, how come I don't get any love?" The beautiful girl I'm so proud to call my best friend stepped into the kitchen.

"ELI!" I exclaimed and ran up to hug her.

"You didn't think you could get away from me that easily, did you? After all, I did carry your drunk ass home last night." She grinned.

"Yeah... Sorry about that." I smiled sheepishly.

"No trouble, now I heard you got your ring. Let me see it," she said and I held up my hand once more. "Merlin, it's gorgeous!"

"I know," I said softly. "I know."
