Valuing Your Virtues (Book 4)

One thing you'll learn in life is to value your virtues. Even though it may be hard to do. After losing something so great, it might not be easy to get back on track, but it starts to become easier after you accept yourself for what you have, instead of what you've lost. After losing my father, it wasn't a happy time, but I'm here. I'm still alive, and I'm still fighting. Me, Athena Black, has realized something grand. That is to not give up until you've realized what you've got.

Athena's POV

"You almost got sorted into Slytherin? Why am I just finding this out now?"

"Because I knew how much you hated them, and I didn't want you to see me any differently." I sighed.

"Athena, you're my god daughter. There's no way in hell I could've thought any differently of you."

"You're just saying that though, I know I would've been slightly different to you."

"Sure, maybe you would have. But you're still my god daughter and I love you to matter what."

"Well that means a lot," I smiled. "I do have another question though."

"Anything,"

"Why do I never hear about my mums parents?" He hesitated for a moment.

"Well, let's just say they were worse than your fathers parents."

"How could you get worse than that?" I asked, astounded.

"They too, were all about pure-blood. They weren't only emotionally abusive towards your mother, but also physically. That's why she moved in with me once we found out. There's no way I would've left her there where she was being hurt that bad."

"And that's why my mums sister got with Uncle Regulus. They wanted her to stay in the pure-blood families."

"Mostly, yes. But I can't say that she didn't have a choice for her own. Just like she made the choice to become a Death Eater."

"Remus, what happened to her?"

"Aurors. She was one of the most wanted, but they didn't find her until a year after the war was over. When they did it was terrible. She didn't stand a chance against old Moody, though."

"So Moody killed her?"

"He didn't want to, but she pulled her wand on him first. He had no choice in the matter."

"Right... So Regulus ended up being a good guy after all, and she... She was just a Death Eater?"

"Not just a Death Eater, Athena. She was in Voldemorts inner circle. She did most of his dirty work he couldn't be bothered with. She was..." He looked at me for a moment with uncertainty in his eyes.

"She was what?" I asked.

"She was close enough to be good friends with the Lestranges." He told me. At the sound of her last name, my fists clenched and stomach dropped.

"So my aunt was in Voldemorts inner circle, she was friends with the Lestranges and she was with Uncle Regulus?"

"Yes, that's about all I know about her."

"She was a busy woman." I said with a hidden disgust in my voice."

"Not the word I would chose, but yes." Remus smiled. I stood up and hugged him tightly.

"I'm really sorry for what I said earlier, by the way." I said quietly.

"I know, it's okay."

"It isn't though, it was fucking ignorant and I shouldn't have said it."

"I'm over it, I promise."

"Well, I'm sorry anyway."

"I accept your apology," he told me and I smiled.

"Great. And I have another question,"

"Go for it."

"How do you like Eli staying here?"

"She's a great kid, and nice and helpful. She's better than you were," he laughed. Even though he was joking, it still hurt to hear that.

"Right. At least you've got company now," I smiled.

"Yeah, it's nice having someone in the house."

"Well, that's great. I better get home now," I sighed.

"You sure? You're welcome to stay as long as you'd like."

"I'm sure. I've been here almost two hours." I smiled.

"Okay, I love you." He said and hugged me.

"I love you too. I'll see you later." I said and made my way to the front door. "Tell Eli I said hi." And with that, I apparated.

I walked around Diagon alley for a while, looking at different shops and just doing nothing. It was nice to not be in the house all the time, so I did this quite often. I eventually made my way into Weasleys Wizard Wheezes to see how they were doing today.

"Athena!" George called as I walked in.

"Afternoon, George." I smiled.

"Come here and give me a hug before I have to come over there." I walked over and wrapped my arms around him. "You alright?"

"Yeah, I just had nothing better to do." I grinned.

"Oh you're an arse sometimes."

"I know."

"Your lover is back there f you want to see him." He pointed to a door behind him.

"Thank you Georgie." I smiled and kissed his cheek.

"No problem," he said, returning to whatever he was doing. I walked through the door and saw my red head struggling to count the contents from a few boxes. I laughed and walked over to him and hugged him from behind.

"Having trouble, are you?"

"Just a little." He turned around and I got on my tippy toes and kisses him on the lips.

"Not the worst surprise I could get at work." He said and placed a hand on my neck.

"I like this too, maybe I should do this more often." I smiled.

"Maybe you should." He said and kissed me again.

"What are you even doing?" I asked, looking over his shoulder.

"Stupid stuff. It can wait. You're here now."

"Good observation, I am here now." I said and kissed his cheek.

"So what did you do all day?"

"I learned about my fucked up family with Remus," I laughed. "Yeah. I'm glad dad didn't then out like the rest of his family. Mum either."

"Well, you don't have to worry about your fucked up family, because we're staring our own." He announced.

"We are now, are we?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"We are."

"Alright. That sounds absolutely wonderful. I can't wait."

"I do have the most brilliant ideas, don't I?"

"Totally. That's why I fell in love with you." I explained.

"I know, you couldn't resist all those wonderful thoughts that this thing produced." He said, pointing to his head.

"Wonderful, but stupid, nonetheless."

"Thanks." He rolled his eyes.

"Anytime." I said and kissed him once more.

"You're lucky I love you," he told me.

"No, no, Freddie. I think it's the other way around." I pointed out. He thought for a moment before he nodded his head.

"Yeah, you're right. I am lucky you love me."
