Proud To Be - Sirius Black's Daughter

Being the daughter of one of the most well known criminals was never a good factor in my life. I never had a father to look up to, to cherish and to love. Just some old photographs and an occasional childhood memory from Remus. But the day I met him, though I had already known he was innocent, that was the day I saw him for what he truly was. And I could honestly say that I was proud to be a Black.

Athena's POV

Everything was amazing. I had gotten off the Hogwarts express and returned to Remus' house. Dad would stop by a little more often then every once and a while. I gotten so many letters from my friends (and boyfriend), and I was happy. I had my family now. Just like any year, this year was extraordinary. This time, in more ways that others.

No, dad's name hadn't been cleared, but we were working on it. Today was the third week into our Sumer vacation. Right now, I was sitting in the living room with Fred at my side, Remus in the chair across from me and dad beside Remus. I smiled at the two old friends, talking as though one of them hasn't been locked up in Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit for a whole 12 years. It would've been great to have Harry here too, but I don't think it would've been easy getting him out of that muggle house. So we didn't bother. He was going to the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasley's at the end of the summer.

I looked down at my fingers laced between Fred's and couldn't help but smile. I let my eyes wander to his face and I took in all his beautiful features. His smile was breathtaking, and his eyes sparkled with the most adorable glint. And his ginger hair that I loved so much was as ginger as ever. I let out a small laugh which gradually became louder, and everyone was looking at me but I didn't care.

"You okay?" Fred asked me, laughing at me.

"Yes, I'm amazing actually." I replied.

"Why are you laughing?" He asked.

"Because I love you, and love is the funniest thing." I said, kissing him. He smiled, but kissed back. I held him close to me, like if I let go, he wouldn't be there. "Don't leave. I don't think I could handle that. Just don't leave," I said against his lips.

"I wouldn't dream of it." He answered, squeezing my hand.

"Remind you of anyone?" I heard Dad ask Remus.

"I think we've gotten ourself a new Lily and James. But they need to switch hair colour." I heard Remus answer, causing Dad to laugh.

I was too caught up in the way Fred was staring at me to notice much more after that. I just let him hold me, because right now, it was one of the things I wanted most.

"You really are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen," he whispered, brushing the hair from my face, which he always seems to be doing.

"As long as it stays that way, I could care less about anything else." I told him.

"Oh trust me, it will always be that way." He said, kissing my forehead.

"This is so amazing," I said out of nowhere after a few minutes worth of silence.

"What is?" Remus asks, smiling.

"You guys. Us. I have my family again, and that's all I could ask for." I said, erupting into the biggest grin I've ever gave. "I love you guys so much," I said, laughing under my breath.

"We love you too, Athena." Dad said, smiling. He looked so much better now. Definitely better than when I saw him for the first time this year. I looked at him for a moment until I finally spoke up.

"Dad?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm so proud that I can call you my father. I truly am proud to be a Black."
