Proud To Be - Sirius Black's Daughter

Being the daughter of one of the most well known criminals was never a good factor in my life. I never had a father to look up to, to cherish and to love. Just some old photographs and an occasional childhood memory from Remus. But the day I met him, though I had already known he was innocent, that was the day I saw him for what he truly was. And I could honestly say that I was proud to be a Black.

Athena's POV

The next few months, not much happened. I caught up on all my work after I saw dad that night, and a few other times I had coincidentally seen him. But that just made my day better whenever I did. To know he was still okay was the best thing in the world. And soon enough, I can have a dad again.

Fred and I were walking hand in hand outside by the lake when I saw Harry walking out of the castle. I let go of Fred's hand and told him I would be right back. I jogged over to Harry just as he was about to put the invisibility cloak on.

"Harry!" I called out and he looked up at me. When he saw it was me, he looked relieved and he broke into a smile.

"Athena, hey." He said.

"Whatcha doing.... You're going to Hogsmeade aren't you?" I asked, raising and eyebrow.

"Maybe... don't tell?" He asked, sheepishly.

"Why must you have so little faith in me?" I ask with mock hurt. He smiled and I rolled my eyes. "Of course I won't. Go have fun."

"Thanks for not being another Hermione," he laughed and I grinned.

"Go, and be careful. Don't get caught. And don't to anything stupid."

"I won't," he reassured me, putting the cloak on. "Seeya,"

"Bye, Harry." I said, running back over to Fred who hadn't moved.

"Good job giving him that map." I said smiling. "I was worried he'd never get to Hogsmeade." I said, intertwining our fingers once more.

"You're not mad?" He asked and I looked at him, offended.

"Of course not! Why that's an insult for you to even think I'd be mad. Everyone needs a little risk." I smiled.

"But he would be in danger-"

"Really? Fred. It's my dad you're talking about here. He isn't a fucking murderer." I said, glaring at him.

"Right.. Sorry." He mumbles, running his thumb over my knuckles.

I sighed, turning towards him and kissing him him passionately. I just needed him to know I loved him. No matter what. He kissed back, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me closer. I don't think either of us cared that we were in the middle the grounds where everyone could see. No, we didn't. At all. I rested my forehead on his and let my lips hover over his when a certain black dog came out of nowhere and started nudging my left, making a noise that was a mix between a growl and whimper.

I scowled and looked down at my father in his animagus form. I knew exactly what he was doing and I didn't like it one bit. "No," I said firmly and looked back up to Fred. He smiled and looked down at the dog, confused.

"Don't worry about him, he's harmless. Quiet friendly actually, and a little annoying sometimes." I said the last part loud enough for dad to hear. He barked in response and I saw Hermione's cat, Crookshanks run up to greet dad. I laughed and went back to paying attention to Fred.

"Wanna go back to the dorms?" He asked with a suggestive tone and an eyebrow wiggle. I think dad heard because he started barking at Fred and I burst out laughing.

"Sure, you go, I'll be right up." I told him and he nodded, making his way up to the castle.

I smiled and sat down next to dad on the ground and he nudged my cheek with his nose. I smiled and petted his head. It felt extremely weird petting my father, but hey, it was better than not seeing him at all.

"Okay, I love you dad, but I gotta go up with Fred." I said, smiling. He let out a low bark of disagreement and I laughed. "Too bad, old man, I'm going." I smiled and stood up. He gave one last bark and I waved, walking back to the castle.

I tamed my hair and straightened myself out, and saw Fred not even bother to get up.

"You loser," I rolled my eyes and kisses him. "I'm going down to the common room, come down later if you want." I said, smiling and walking down the flight of stairs.

I saw Harry staring down at something in his hands and looking distraught. I furrowed my eyebrows and walked over, looking at him.

"Harry? What's the matter?" I asked, sitting next to him. He looked hesitant at first but the sighed, opening his mouth to speak.

"I almost got caught. Well, I did, but I didn't get in trouble thanks to Lupin." He said and I smiled. Good 'ol Remus.

"Why, what happened?"

"What happened at Hogsmeade doesn't matter, it's something else. Something I saw on the map.." He said quietly.

I looked at him curiously. What could he have seen? "What... What did you see?" I asked him.

"I... Don't think I'm crazy, and I'm sorry if this upsets you in some way, but... The map said that Peter Pettigrew was here. I saw it last night, and I just thought about it now." He said and I widened my eyes.

"P-Peter... I knew it! Harry! Thank you so much for telling me. Don't worry, I believe you. Where is the map now?!" I asked him, shaking with anticipation.

"Professor Lupin took it." He said.

"Okay, I'll be back. Tell Fred I'm with Lupin if he asks okay?" I ask and he nods.

I ran out of the common room and down the corridors to Remus' office so fast I almost tripped over my robes a few times, but I didn't really care. I needed him to know the truth. I knew Remus had told me he believed that dad was innocent, but I think he just said that so I wouldn't be mad at him. But he has to believe me now.

I burst through the the door of his office to see him looking up at me in shock. "Athena?"

"Where's the map, Remus?" I got straight to the point.

"I don't know what-"

"THE MARAUDERS MAP! I know you have it! I need to see it, now!" I exclaimed frantically.

"Why is it such a big deal?" He asked.

"Remus, please! I'm begging you to let me see it, please!" I said, now in front of his desk. He sighed and rummaged rho ugh a few papers before handing me the over-familiar piece of parchment.

"To use it-"

"I solemnly swear I'm up to no good!" I exclaimed and I saw Remus look at me in shock.

"How did you-"

"Not the time!" I scanned the map so carefully and looked at everything. Not gonna lie, it showed me some things that I didn't need to know. But no Peter. I slumped into a chair by a desk close to Remus' and put my head in my hands.

"Athena?" He asks me quietly.

"Don't." I whispered standing up. "Please, let me keep this. It's for

More important reasons than you'd think." I finished. He nodded and I hugged him. "Sorry for bothering you." I said, sadly and started making my way back to the common room.
