Penelope Jackson: Daughter of the Sea- The Amulet of the Moon

In this second Penelope Jackson story, Penelope and her friends must travel to Athens to complete the prophecy that will unite the Gods with their Demi-god children. But a vengeful goddess threatens to destroy Penelope, her family and friends, as they travel. And during a separation Penelope picks up a strange stone that later reveals its true nature as the group of Demi-gods stumble upon a secret civilization.

3. A Warning

The thing that people don't tell you about when you're a demi-god, is that you will never get good sleep. It's very rare, but most of the time it's either no dream or a nightmare, honestly I rather have the no dream. I had nightmare, but if wasn't like the other ones, where I'm being chased by and Unknown or I'm drowning in the lake. This one was different, almost like it was real. My dad was calling out to me, and I was in this wasteland. I saw my dad he wore ragged clothing and his hair was long and unkempt. He had dark circles under his eyes, and looked like he hadn't eaten in weeks. The last time I saw my dad, he looked way better.

"Dad?" I called back.

"Pen!" was the response.

"Dad what happened to you?" I asked running towards him.

"We found him! He's alive!" my dad shouted, he was getting farther away.

"What? Who dad? Stop moving!"

"No time! Find them before she does! Get the key, it's the only way to find her!"

"Dad wait! I don't understand!"

"Find them Penelope! Find them! We're almost out, but you must find them!"

"WHO!" I screamed.

Then he was gone, I was alone in this wasteland. Another dreamed followed, and I swear I remember having it before. A woman with cinnamon colored hair and huge almond shaped eyes was standing on the beach, she looked...sad mad.

"Why have you done this to me! What insult is this!" she screamed at the sky.

"Hello?" I called to her.

She either didn't hear me or was ignoring me, because she didn't look or acknowledge me.

"I swear I will have revenge! Do you hear me?! I will be free!" she screamed. Then she sunk to her knees, and began to cry. I felt bad for her, but she was like really crazy. I wondered who she was talking to, and I tried to call again but then I heard the voice. The same evil sweet voice that told me she was going to destroy me.

"You see my suffering Jackson? You see the pain your family has inflicted on to me?" Jillian said.

The woman was gone and so was the beach she'd been standing on and I was back in the wasteland.

"I've done nothing to you!" I shouted at her. "I don't even know what you look like!"

She cackled and suddenly she was there. A girl about my sister's age was standing in front of me. She was so close I could've touched her. She had long wild black hair and huge brown eyes. She was dressed in a purple Greek dress, and she had this evil look on her face.

"You destroyed my army, but I will destroy your kind. Starting with you're family." she hissed.

"What did we do to you." I hissed  back.

"You took what was mine, and destroyed everything, you will pay, and therefore the gods will pay."

"What was it? Maybe we can help."

"Filthy Greek trick." Jillian spat.

"Uh your Greek too." I pointed out.

"ENOUGH!" she screeched.

She rose into the air on a cloud of fire.

"Be warned Jackson, you will suffer and you will lose. Nothing can save you."

Her voice echoed in my head, and I started shouting after her.

"You took my parents! You caused all this hurt! Jillian! Jillian!"

"Penelope!" another voice cried.

"No!" I shouted.

"Penelope wake up!"

I opened my eyes and sat straight up I hit my head on the top bunk.

"Ow!" I cried.

"Penelope you were having a nightmare." Athena informed me.

I looked to see Fred staring from his bunk and Athena was hovering over my bed on her crutches.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"It's five in the morning." she said.

"Ugh." I groaned.

"You gave us a good scare." Fred said sitting up.

"What did you dream?" Athena asked.

"It was like a series. I'll tell you bout it later, I'm sorry I woke you." I said.

"It's fine, are you sure you're okay? I can call for Kamri and she can give you some sleepy nectar for a dreamless sleep." she offered.

"No, I'm okay."

Athena nodded then hobbled back to her bed. Once she fell asleep again I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. I hated nightmares, all summer I'd had them, but none as bad as this. I felt like my father was trying to give me some help for my quest, but I couldn't piece anything together. Was the crying woman a clue? Or was she something else? And Jillian? I think she was just a warning, but how did she interact with me in my dreams? It wasn't like with my dad, where we shared a connection. It was just weird. I turned over on my side and opened my eyes just in time to see the sun peeking through the window. It was dawn, and I had so much to do today.I closed my eyes again hoping to get one more hour of sleep under my belt. The gods knew I was going to need, I made a mental note to remember to ask Kamri for sleeping nectar. I was in no mood to deal with pesky dreams on such an important mission.
