The Meaning Of

During a discussion about the meaning of life with my friend, we somehow began writing this story. I would write an installment, and then she would, completely making it up as we went. This is the result. Basically, for 70 some years, my friend searches for the grand question and answer to the meaning of life. Finally, after all that time, we come in contact again.

TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

The chopper was so loud that it is nearly impossible to hear anything else. I tried to start a conversation with the men. I wanted to find out what was going on. They could barely hear me though, despite the fact that I was shouting as loud as I possibly could, so I eventually gave up. The ride was very quiet and incredibly loud. Across from me, Jason was sleeping. I studied his face. Wrinkles had started to appear where they had not existed before. His hair looked thinner and grayer. What did those people do to him? It was as if he had been frozen in time and they had broken the spell. Perhaps Carmen was in the same position. Was that why the people in suits wanted to find her? Thank God I was finally getting an opportunity to talk to her though. It was about time. She had better give me a good explanation for all this. And a good apology. The hours flew by as I was lost in thought. I reviewed everything that had happened to me this month. I decided that before Carmen could so much as utter a hello, I was going to slap her so hard. I couldn't believe the things I had went through for that girl. But, God, did I feel relieved now. For the first time in days, I truly felt safe. Unfortunately, I feared that it was merely the calm before the storm. In the distance, land appeared. As the helicopter approached the island, I grew excited. I'd never been to New Zealand before. This would be an adventure. A TRUE adventure. And I wouldn't even have to be worried about people trying to kill me. That was a change, but a good one. We flew to a large building that lay secluded among the high mountains. As the chopper descended to its landing pad, Jason finally awoken from his slumber. He looked around, then made eye contact with me. He offered me a weak smile. From the controls we heard a man shout, "We're here."
