Psychotic: l.h.

Talia never thought that her boyfriend would want to kill her. Until the night that he tried to.

"Who were you talking to?!" Luke yelled at me as he walked into the room.

"No one." I said, softly.

"Talia Violet Brooks, you better tell me who you were talking to right now." Luke said angrily.

"I wasn't talking to anyone but myself." I mumbled. "I just woke up, and I was talking out loud. I was trying to figure out where I was." I said, making up a lame excuse.

I don't think Luke believed it, but he let it go. "Well, good luck with that. No one's ever going to find you here."

Wait. What was he talking about? "Luke, why did you bring me here?" I asked. "What happened?"

"I couldn't just leave you." Luke said. "I had to get away."

"Away from what?" I asked. "Luke, you're scaring me!"

"Good." He said. "It's okay to be scared."

Okay, I'm not gonna lie. I was beyond terrified at that point. Luke always freaks out when we watch scary movies together, so why does he find it okay to be in one?

I looked up and tried to meet Luke's eyes. "I want you to tell me why I'm here." I said.

Luke walked over to me and sat down on the floor next to me. "Contrary to what you might think right now, I love you, Talia." He said. "Maybe I love you too much."

"Luke...?" I whispered. "What's going on with you?"

"I can't stay at home right now. It's not safe there for me." Luke sighed.

What was he talking about? I loved Luke's family. They've been nothing but nice to me, and I've never seen them hurt Luke in any way.

"Why can't you be at home?" I asked.

"Because someone will get hurt." he said quietly. "Me."

I sighed. Now I understood.

"Luke, is this about your depression getting worse?" I asked. "I told you that I would talk with you about it. I know what's like, okay? When my mom died, everything changed for me." I wiped at the tears starting to form in my eyes. That happened whenever I thought of her.

"I'm sorry." Luke said. "I know what it's like to lose someone too."

"Who did you lose?" I asked him, still wiping my eyes.

"Maybe I haven't lost her yet." Luke said, looking into my eyes.

"You're not going to lose me, Luke." I said reassuringly.

"Yes, I am, and I'm willing to accept the facts. You're not going to be here forever, Talia." Luke said. "It's only a matter of time before you leave like everyone else."

I leaned over and placed my hand on Luke's "I'm not going anywhere. So get used to it."

When I looked up at Luke I noticed that his bright blue eyes were glazed over. He didn't look right. I was worried about him.

"I'm going to miss you." Luke said, sounding like he was in a trance.

"What?" I asked.

"I'm going to miss you most of all." Luke said quietly.

I stood up and slowly backed away from Luke. "Luke, what are you talking about?" I was getting scared again. "It's me. Talia Brooks. Your girlfriend. I told that I'm not going to leave you. So why would you miss me?"

I looked down at Luke, who was still sitting on the floor. I watched him reach for something in his pocket. "Goodbye, Talia." He said, pulling out a knife, still in his trance. "I'll miss you."

Luke's POV:

I had to get out of here. I can't let anyone see what I'm about to do. Not even Talia.

I picked her up off of the couch and carried her over to the front door. I put on my coat and ran out to my car while carrying her. I looked around to make sure that no one was around, before placing her in the backseat. It was late at night, already past 12 am. I didn't have much time. My family is probably already looking for me. I should be home by now.

I got in my car and started the engine. I had no idea where I was going. All that I knew was that I had to leave town. I had to get away from everything and everyone. But like I said, I couldn't leave Talia. She was the one person who made me want to stay here in this horrible, cruel world.

I started to back out of Talia's driveway, and then made my way down her street. I watched as street signs turned into highways signs, which turned into state signs. I drove and drove and drove, not stopping until I made sure that I had found a place where no one would ever Talia and I. A place where we would be safe together.

A place where I would belong.
