5. Chapter 5

Jack and I froze in our tracks, and looked at each other.

The crying was echoing through the trees, we just looked at each other, frozen in fear.

After a few seconds Jack let go of my hand and started heading back towards the edge of the bridge. "I wanna see what that is."

"Jack, please don't. I wanna leave now please come back here!" I pleaded still too scared to move.

He walked all the way to the edge, took a deep breath, then looked down at the water. "Nothing's there. I think we're both just really tired and are imagining things. Let's go."

He started walking back towards me, but before he got to me a huge gust of wind started blowing and knocked us both to the ground.

The wind was blowing so hard we couldn't get back up, leaves and sticks were blowing all around us. The crying of the baby grew louder, it sounded as if it were screaming now.

I covered my ears with my hands and shut my eyes tight as I laid pinned against the ground, wishing nothing more than to be home.

Then it all stopped.

The wind.

The crying.

It all stopped.

I looked up to see Jack laying on the ground covering his ears. I quickly crawled over to him.

"Jack! Jack are you okay? Are you hurt? Jack!" I whispered loudly.

"Ugh, yeah I'm fine, that branch hit me in the head though," he said sitting up, while holding onto the left side of his forehead. I moved his hand away from it, seeing the blood start to trickle down.

"Okay we need to get you out of here, let's go find the way back to the car." I said as I helped him up.
