1. The Telekinetic Bowl

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Ronald Potter was finally becoming a real star pilot. Now he would be starting his final year there. He knew it would be really hard, but also really fun!

The summer on Tatooine was going the same as ever. Ronald still talked with his friends, but they seemed to ignore him in their own subjects. They still had little in common.

"Hey, Ronald, we hear you have a girlfriend at the Jedi Temple," said Regan.

Ronald immediately knew he was talking about Annabeth Skywalker. "Well, sort of. I don't know if she's my girlfriend exactly..."

"But at least you finally got to fly in a real starfighter," said Jesse.

Ronald grimaced. "Well, a star pilot simulator."

"Oh. A simulator," said Regan.

"Hm," seconded Jesse.

"I've been driving a real T-16 skyhopper," said Timone.

"Really? Those have pretty complex controls, right?" Regan replied.

"It's not that hard once you get the hang of it," Timone replied. "They're a lot like Podracers."

"That's cool, Timone!" said Jesse.

Attempting to divert the conversation, Ronald said, "I can lift things with my mind."

When he came back home, Gregory, his 18-year-old brother, was there and greeted him. "Hey, Ron."

"Ron, you be a Jedi yet?" asked his younger brother Oliver.

"Not yet," said Ronald.

"I'm be a Jedi. Watch!" said Oliver, and reached his hand toward the bowl. It didn't budge.

Ronald decided to do Oliver a favor. Whatever it would lead to, it had to be better than watching him waste all his energy so. So finally, without moving his hand he used the Force to lift the bowl a few feet off the table.

Oliver's mouth fell open. "Ron! I did it!" He didn't know what Ronald had done.

"Great job, Oliver," said Ronald.

Oliver leaped out of his seat and ran out of the room. "Mom, I did it!" he squealed.

"Did you check the mail yet?" asked Ronald once Oliver left. "I'm expecting a few letters..."

"Mail? No one uses mail anymore," Gregory replied.

Ronald was puzzled. Then he heard Oliver shout, "Mom, I did it! I used Force!"

A moment later, Mrs. Potter came in with Oliver.

"Hi, Mom. When is the mail coming? Annabeth sent a letter, and I'm waiting for this year's welcome packet from the Jedi Temple."

"I thought the mail came already," said Mrs. Potter.

Ronald leaned over on the table. "No, it hasn't yet."

Mrs. Potter looked down and saw Oliver tugging at her. She helped him into his seat. "Yes, it did. Didn't Gregory give you your letters?"

What?! "Huh?"

Gregory retrieved an envelope from his jacket. "This one? From Annabeth?"

"Hey!" Ronald shouted angrily. He snatched the envelope from his brother and peeled it open.

"What? I didn't open it?" Gregory insisted.

Ronald smirked at him knowingly before taking out the letter.

"How is Annabeth's dad doing?" Mrs. Potter asked.

"A lot better," Ronald replied.

Gregory retrieved another envelope. "This came too, from the Jedi Temple. Are you ready for your last year in middle school?"

"Yeah," said Ronald. "I messed up last year, but I'm going to be really focused this time."

Oliver spoke up. "Ron, I can help you if you're not ready."

"Thanks, Oliver," Ronald said, his voice something of a groan.

He then proceeded to read the flyer. It said:

As students return for their final year at Youngling-class at the Jedi Temple on the planet Corsucant, their Padawan training will enter a new and exciting phase. Each Padawan will be paired with a Jedi Master for individual training to give them a starting sensation of a life-long Master and Padawan bond. They will also choose a specialized area of focus, such as engineering, piloting, or farming. Padawans will finish their year well-prepared to continue their path to become Jedi, despite the Sith Lord at large. Information on Darth Vadermort's location and predicament can be seen on Page 4.

This year, Padawans will focus on their unique abilities in a number of ways, including the class talent show. Students will have a chance to show off their favorite hobbies and hidden skills. The individual strengths of students will also be measured in the Padawan Obstacle Challenge Trial, where teams of students must work together to solve problems and bypass barriers using their strongest skills. In order to finish their training as Younglings, they must also finish the Labyrinth of Doom by finding their way through a maze while defeating other students in lightsaber battles.

Overall, the summer break seemed a lot shorter. It helped that Annabeth and Ronald had been talking and writing to each other the whole time. Ammon also came to stay with him for a few days. He was expecting Ammon to be bored, but he said Tatooine was so different from where he grew up; it was fun for him. Ronald was leaving for school the next week, and he thought he finally knew for sure what he was doing. Plus he wasn't going to get cocky like he did the previous year, especially since he was Mr. Maulpres' Padawan now.
