Ronald Potter And The Gamorrean From Coruscant: Ronald Potter Year 2

Ronald's second year at the Jedi Temple. He finally survived his first year, leaving him to think his second year would be a breeze. He couldn't be more wrong. Ronald feels like he's drifting away from his friends, and it only makes matters worse when Ronald discovers he's not the extraordinary pilot he thought he was. When the school bullies take Ronald under their wing, he decides they aren't so bad...or are they? This year, Ronald will have to survive another encounter with Darth Vadermort, alien poetry tests, menacing robots, cyberbullies, more lightsaber battles, and worst of all, his apparently traitorous crush, Annabeth.

17. Leaving The Jedi Temple

Soon after, it was the final exams for meditation. Ronald was first up.

Yoda spoke first. "For your final exam, lift these stones while meditating, you must." Ronald sat down. "Only at peace, may you do this, hm?"

Ronald began to meditate, and lifted the stones successfully.

Hoping to distract Ronald, Severus whispered to Vernon, "Looks like a big, sleeping baby."

"An ugly baby," Vernon agreed. "We should put another pepper into his hamburger."

"Ha!" Severus snickered.

Annabeth smiled up at him. Ronald continued to meditate.

Four minutes later, the stage was over. "Hmm," said Yoda. "Good work, Ron."

"Thank you, Master Yoda," said Ronald, and lowered the stones.

When he went to sit down, Ammon and Annabeth both smiled at him.

Ronald had learned a lot this year, but not in the way he'd expected. Being in pilot training also made him feel like a better friend. Mr. Maulpres still disliked him, though. He thought Severus and Vernon had come to like him, but then they started acting like jerks again after the Droid Construction Project. Now that things were back to normal (except the threat Darth Vadermort posed), Ronald was even OK with Ammon beating him in the tournament. Even though he thought it was silly how Kitnum always told them that winning didn't matter, he now thought she had the right idea. And even though Annabeth was no longer angry at him, he still didn't know if she liked him.

Days later, the school year was over. Ronald and Ammon dismounted together.

"I can't believe this year is over already!" Ronald remarked.

"I know!" said Ammon.

Just then, Vernon showed up. Severus and Pansy were behind him. "I cant believe this year wasn't over for you way earlier!"

"What did you think, Vernon," Ronald replied, "that you'd actually get me to quit?"

"No, I thought you'd fail," said Vernon.

Ronald's frown suddenly morphed into a taunting smile. "Sorry to disappoint you."

"Don't worry. There's always next year." Vernon turned and left with Pansy and Severus. "Better practice watching your back this summer, Ron."

Eegan and Bill showed up next.

"See you guys later!" said Eegan.

"Ronald, you'll write to us on Facebook, right?" Bill said hopefully.

"Of course," said Ronald. "Have a good summer!" He turned to Ammon and handed him a booklet. "Here, Ammon."

Ammon took it from his hand. "For me? What is this?"

"Actually, it's for your dad," said Ronald. "It's a 'zine I made all about Jedi artifacts."

"Cool, he'd like that! Thanks, Ron!" Ammon replied. "Let's hang out this summer...I'll come visit Tatooine!"

"Sounds awesome!" said Ronald. "Bye, Ammon!" He waved. A moment later, Annabeth walked up behind him, and he turned. "Hey, Annabeth." He took a card from his pocket. "This is for your dad. It's a get well card."

Annabeth took it and peeked at the inside. "Thanks, Ron. That's sweet." She gave him a hug before stepping onto the ramp. "I'll talk to you when I get home!"

Ronald waved, and then heard a familiar growl. He turned to see Gammy holding out a huge dragon nugget. "GRRUNTGH!"

Ronald took the nugget and examined it. "For me? Thank, Gammy!"

Just then, Yoda showed up. "A snack for the ride home, you have. Heh heh heh! Much you have learned this year, hm? Still much more to learn, you have. Back here, next year, you need to be, hm? Train with a Jedi Master as a true Padawan Learner, you will!"

Ronald smiled. "I'm going to be your apprentice?"

Yoda giggled. "No. The right Jedi to train with, you need."

Ronald stepped onto the ramp. "Bye, Master Yoda!"

As Ronald rode on the bus, he wondered, "The right Jedi? Who would that be for me?" He looked inside the newspaper and saw the familiar face with the article. He read aloud: "When you arrive next year, you will train with Mr. Maulp--NOOOOOO!!!"

Finally, the bus arrived on Tatooine. After it landed, Ronald stepped out. "Home, sweet--" Suddenly, a wet washcloth snagged him. "--home," Ronald finished, looking down at his soaked robes.

"Here, Ron," said Gregory. "Mom knew you wouldn't be used to the heat!"

"Thanks, Greg!" said Ronald. "Where is Mom?"

"At home with Oliver," said Gregory. "Here, let me get your suitcase."

They didn't get far before they saw Mr. Potter in his landspeeder.

"Dad!" said Ronald.

"Hi, Ron!" Mr. Potter replied. "Come on in!" After they climbed into the landspeeder, Mr. Potter took off. "So, you're going to be a pilot after all, Ron?"

"A pilot..." Ronald replied. "And a Jedi!"

When they arrived home, Oliver came rushing out with his arms extended. "Ron!" Before Oliver could reach his older brother, Ronald Force-pulled him onto his shoulders. "Whee!"

"Hi, Oliver!" said Ronald.

"Hi, honey!" said Mrs. Potter. "Are you hungry?"

"Yes!" said Ronald. Everybody went inside.

"Why don't you put on some dry clothes and I call you when it's ready?" Mrs. Potter offered.

She reached out to hug him. Instead of resisting, Ronald smiled and returned the hug. "Thanks, Mom."

After changing, Ronald pulled out a photo of him with Ammon and Annabeth. Soon, he was fast asleep.
