11. The Force Exam

Ronald was able to finish his research paper on early Mandalorian history a few days before it was due, and Librarian Lackbar gave him an "A." He had also taken his midterm test in Mrs. Pilton's class. He only had on test left: Basic Lifting With The Force. I can only hope Yoda will be in a good mood...

Finally, the exam begun. Ronald watched as Ammon walked up and wielded the Force in perfect order. All the books fell off the table and landed in the same pile. Then he lifted them back up.

"Good!" said Yoda. "Your turn it is, Ronald."

Ronald stood up and walked over to the pile Ammon had reassembled.

He nervously extended his hand toward the books. He felt the Force surge through his arm, and with newfound determination called on it. Still, nothing. The book wobbled...and then the front cover of the top book flipped open, along with the first few pages.

Yoda's face looked grave as he marked his clipboard. "Hmmmm. Pansy?"

Ronald walked back over to Ammon. The test was over, and he had failed it. "That wasn't a 'good job, hm,' was it?" Ronald asked hopefully as Pansy concentrated on the book.

"I don't think so," Ammon replied.

Later that day, Ronald, Ammon, Eegan, and Bill compared grades.

"...all A's? That's great, Bill!" said Ammon. "How'd you do, Eegan?"

"About the same as you, Ammon," Eegan replied. "Four A's, three B's."

"What about you, Ronald?" Bill asked.

Ronald looked nervous as he scanned his report card. "Pretty good. Mostly A's, a few B's..."

"All A's and B's?" Eegan replied. "That's good! So, you did better in Force-lifting than you thought!"

"Not exactly," Ronald said. "I also got, um, one D+."

"One what?" Bill asked.

"I also got one D+," Ronald repeated louder.

"Don't worry, Ron! You'll recharge after Spring Break!" Eegan replied.

Ronald wasn't sure about that. I sure hope so. Otherwise, it could be Plant School after all.
