Ronald Potter And The Jedi Holocron: Ronald Potter Year 1

Ronald Potter's first year at the Jedi Temple. Ron's one dream is to leave home and attend Pilot Academy like his brother, father, and grandfather. But just as he is mysteriously denied entrance to Pilot Academy, he is invited to attend the Jedi Temple--a school that he didn't apply for and that only recruits 1-year-olds...until now. Now under the tutelage of Master Yoda, Ron learns that he possesses more strength and potential than he could have dreamed.

12. Spring Break

"Bye, Ronald! Have a good Spring Break!"

Ronald and Ammon were both about to board separate ships. "You too, Ammon!" said Ronald, and climbed aboard.

Five hours later, the space bus landed in a docking bay near the Potter farm. Ronald climbed off quickly.

"ROOOOOONNNN!!!" Oliver shouted happily as he rushed toward the brother he hadn't seen in months. He leaped onto Ronald's knee and hugged him tight.

Mrs. Potter came out as well and hugged Ronald. "Mom, you're embarrassing me!" Ronald complained as he tried to wedge free.

"I'm so glad you're home, sweetie!" Mrs. Potter replied, and let go of him. Then she turned and left for the short trip home. "You'll be such a help with all the chores!"

For Ronald, it suddenly felt strange to be home. Although he couldn't believe he had actually survived half a year of school, he didn't feel any closer to being a Jedi. And I couldn't be further from being a pilot. The last two issues of Starfighter House were out, and Ronald didn't even recognize any of the ships. He had gone to the Jedi Temple Library a few times to read up on new spaceships, but every time he did, he got trapped by Librarian Lackbar, who talked his ear off for an hour, which led to him not reading anything.

He also thought it was weird how much Gregory had changed. More specifically, his mustache. Although Mrs. Potter thought it looked handsome, Ronald thought it looked outright funny. Oliver was different, too. He was talking a lot more. And although Ronald couldn't do much with the Force, Oliver was definitely impressed.

Mr. Potter had been home as well, and he had asked Ronald a lot about the Jedi Temple. But he also talked to Gregory about pilot-centric things, which was when Ronald felt left out. In fact, the most exciting event was when they took a family photo the day before school.

Ronald talked to Timone later, but wound up listening to him a lot without saying anything. And then Regan and Jesse walked up.

"So,'s the Jedi Temple?" Regan asked.

"It's OK," said Ronald. "The other students are pretty cool, and--"

Regan cut him off. "Really? They're not strange?"

"Um, no," Ronald replied.

"Do you guys get to do weird stuff?" asked Regan.

Before Ronald could answer, Jesse said, "Anyway, have you seen the new J-47's?"

Ronald looked confused. "What's that?"

"Just the starfighter we get to ride in after Spring Break," said Jesse smugly.

Regan turned to leave, and Jesse followed him. "See you guys later!" Jesse said, and waved.

"Bye!" said Timone.

"I built my own lightsaber!" Ronald called after them.

Timone turned to Ronald. "What's a lightsaber?"

Ronald looked at him with a bewildered look. "Oh," said Timone.

Ronald looked into the distance. Seriously, I've known them since we were toddlers, and now we have nothing in common. Is it odd that I'm actually looking forward to Spring Break ending so I can go back to school?

Later, Ammon wrote to Ronald. The letter said:

Dear Ronald,

Thanks for the tip, I did go to the ice planet Hoth during break and it was a ton of fun. Didn't see any wampas, though. How's your break been? Did you do anything exciting?

Don't let Gregory get to you about Annabeth, I know you're just friends. For now, anyway, right? Sorry, I couldn't resist! :)

See you back at the Jedi Temple tomorrow!

P.S. Everyone is going to post pictures from break to share, make sure you share one of your adventures!

Attached was a post with everyone's activities. According to the photos, Annabeth had visited a castle, Ammon had gone to Hoth, Bill ended up in  game show for kids, Eegan had visited the dinosaur museum, Vernon had visited Jabba the Hutt in his palace, Pansy had gone hiking, and Severus had visited the Endor moon with his mom. Ronald sighed, then added their family photo. Can't wait for tomorrow...
