6. Field Trip To Kashyyyk

Ronald was on his way to class when Severus Umbridge called him over. "Hey, Ronald, come here a second."

Cautiously, Ronald did.

"I can't seem to get my locker open," said Severus, now face-to-face with Ronald. "Do you think you can try?"

Ronald scratched his chin. "Oh..." Severus had shown him nothing but antagonism. But he was still a living being. Plus, Ronald had become better at opening lockers. Why not?

He kept his gaze on Severus. "Okay, what's the combination?"

"Thanks!" Severus replied. "Seventeen-twelve-nine."

Ronald cracked the code quickly, and the locker opened. "There you go!" he said with a gesture.

"HEY! What are you doing in my locker?!"

Ronald turned. It was Vernon. "Um, uh, I..." He didn't know what to say.

Severus snickered.

A week later, all the Padawans went on a field trip to Kashyyyk, a jungle planet in the Outer Rim of the galaxy.

It was the home of the Wookiees. It was covered in Wroshyr trees and had a lot of grass around. Wookiees built their home in shacks around the planet. Ronald didn't know much else.

The Jedi started out at a Wookiee settlement. Their first activity was to observe the Wookiee Council in action. Ronald thought it would be fun. But instead it turned out to be boring and a bit loud. Kitnum tried to translate, but she only growled too. However, she did better as a guide.

When it was time to go, they had to wake Vernon Dudley first, who had fallen asleep (and drooled on his tunic). Draco took many notes, for he wanted to run for Student Council President. For him, watching the Wookiee Council was definitely worth his time. Wookiees were known to be intelligent.

They spent a lot of the morning packing everything on their banthas. When they were finally done, they went hiking, looking for a good campsite in the process.

Ronald thought Kashyyyk was amazing. His favorite part was the camp among the trees. Although he had heard of them, he'd never seen a tree directly. This baffled Eegan, who was appalled regarding Ronald's amazement. After hiking to the campsite, they started to explore. It started out badly for Ronald when he bent a grounded branch and it sprung back up, hitting Annabeth Skywalker directly in the face. Tegan Courtney went to check on her, and Ronald immediately apologized. He noted with annoyance that he had made that face a lot lately. Embarrassed, Ronald slunk away and finished on his own.

They were supposed to regroup at 16:00, but Ammon went missing! RW-12 wasn't any help because she couldn't roll around the forest very well. Instead, Yoda ordered everyone to split up into search parties.

Ronald's team was the first to find him. Ronald had told Bill and Eegan how to use the sun to pinpoint shadows and tell direction.

"Finally!" Ammon exclaimed. He was leaning weakly against a tree, and his expression was strained. "How did you find me?"

"Ron did it," Eegan replied.

"He followed the sun or something," said Bill.

"Thanks, Ronald," said Ammon, reaching toward his foot. "I hurt my ankle..."

"We'll help you," Ronald replied.

Ronald gripped Ammon's right hand, and Eegan gripped his left. Hoisted by two of his friends, Ammon limped toward the camp.

"Thanks, guys," he said on the way there.

Bill nodded before turning to Ronald. "Ronald, how do we use the sun as a compass again?"

Just then, they arrived at camp. Annabeth's team was already back, and Yoda was waiting by a wroshyr tree.

"Hm, done well, you have," Yoda said approvingly.

A few hours later, a few Padawans sat around a campfire, telling stories and roasting marshmallows over the crackling flames.

"I'm glad we made it back before dark," said Eegan, smiling slightly. The flames danced, crackling without a care.

"Why?" asked Ammon. "Because it would be so hard to see?"

"No," Eegan replied. "Because of the Ghost Wookie! The Ghost Wookie is the spirit of an angry Wookie who haunts the forests of Kashyyyk, looking for unsuspecting travelers to crush in its massive arms!"

All the kids turned pale.

"What?" Eegan said, frowning. "It's just a story, I'm kidding with you guys!"

Suddenly, the dark face of a Wookiee popped up behind them and smiled.

Eegan screamed. "Run for your lives!" All the Padawans took off.

The silhouette of their gym teacher, Kitnum, disappeared and was replaced by her body. She crawled atop the log and scratched her head.
