4. A Dream Come True

Alyss:

I stared out the window in shock.  I couldn't believe my eyes.  Real live dragons.  As I stared out the window, a single rider dismounted and walked toward the entrance.
I turned back to the crowd and said, "The dragons are back." I turned back to the window to watch the rider and dragons.  The sight of the dragons captivated me.  They were just as beautiful and majestic as I imagined. I couldn't help but hope that they were here to take me away from Riverland and all my problems here.
I heard footsteps behind me and turned to see the rider walking towards the stage.  I hesitated for a moment then bowed to her.  It seemed like the right thing to do when greeting a rider.
The rider walked up to me, put a hand on my shoulder, and said, "you need not bow to me." The rider then turned to face the crowd.  She said, "I am Tilm, leader of the dragonriders.  As you know, the rodders broke contact with Riverland sixteen years ago.  Since that time only one person, a single child has kept alive the belief of dragons on this city. Now this child has grown, yet she still believes, despite all your attempts to make her believe that dragons no longer exists.  Note she has been chosen to continue her life as a dragonrider.  Her faith in is is the only reason we would have ever returned to this city that has lost all belief, all faith in the dragons and riders." Tilm now turned to me and extended her hand.  "Will you come with me to the home of the dragonriders to live out the rest of your life with us?"
I did not even hesitate, this was what I always wanted.  "I would be honored.  It has always been my dream to live among the dragons."
"And that," Tilm replied. "Is why you were chosen." She paused for a moment then said,  "Come now we must leave quickly.  I believe I am correct in saying that you are not afraid of the dragons. You will not need to take anything with you, everything you will need shall be provided by the riders."
The woman led me from the hall, a place I hoped I would never see again.
