George is diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, a type of Autism. He has been going to a boy's boarding school since he was seven. The other boys bully him, and he can't control his emotions properly.

One day he meets the strange and mysterious Sam, the only boy he's really ever known who doesn't tease him or try to make him angry. So what will happen when George starts to fall for this wonderful and distant boy?

12. Sam

I lift him onto my toboggan – I’d had it when I saw him – and take him to my camp. I’ve never seen him have a true outbreak like that. I don’t think he even realised he was making so much noise. I tuck him into my sleeping bag. He looks so sweet, so vulnerable when he’s sleeping. I can’t think why he’s out here in the day, but I can wait until he wakes up. I start collecting food and sticks to make something for George to eat when he wakes.

He starts murmuring and I scramble to his side, so I’m there if he gets confused. He keeps talking to himself, whispering words that I couldn’t make out. Once I was sure he wasn’t waking up, I went to check on the food. As I was taking it off the heat, I heard George say a few last words:

                “Sam……Me……..…Boys………........Wha...Why?”

Then I knew. I had to do it.
