You And I

A poem about two who couldn't be more similar. My poem for the poetry competition.

1. You and I

Can hear the beating of her breath,

A sound that yearns for patient Death,

A life that torn was rent in two,

The one was me, the other you,

Can feel the pounding of her heart,

The quiet, dormant, patient part,

My part is violent, rash and dark,

Yours, it sings, a silent lark,

We are different as two can be,

Yet you are not afraid of me,

I would tear your life to shreds,

With you left picking up the threads,

And yet as different as we are,

Our hearts are joined up by a scar,

We are close as two can be,

In multiple personality.
