“You will love the mountains Gerald; I’ve just listened to the radio and it is going to be fine today.

“I will go and change; I will be ready in twenty minutes.”

“I will make us a flask of tea then.

“Okay shouted Elizabeth from the bedroom as she sat naked in front of the mirror fixing her hair and make up,

She put on a pair of Levi Jeans and an Aran cardigan; put on a little lipstick then came back into the kitchen.

She sat and put on a pair of walking boots.

“I would put on a pair of jeans and a thick jumper because it can get cold and windy there.

“Right then I will change my trousers then put on my Christmas jumper; it’s the thickest one I have. It’s red with white reindeers on it.”

“Have you got a waterproof or an umbrella as it can rain suddenly and it comes down pretty heavily at times; put on your boots as well.”

“I have a waterproof and a cagoule.”

“Take both.”

Ged tightened the top of the flask then placed then screwed the cups on the top. He put it inside a bag along with two mars bars and a packet of digestive biscuits.

“Are you ready then love said Elizabeth?

They walked out side then Elizabeth told Ged that they would take her car.

“Where is it?

“It’s over there.” “No it isn’t there’s only that new Vauxhall Viva.”

“That is mine Gerald; I bought it whilst you were away”

“Wow it’s beautiful; just like its owner.”

He got in the passenger side then looked around at the interior of the car and the dashboard.

Elizabeth said that it did nought to sixty miles per hour in 6.2 seconds. She turned the ignition and the engine fired up instantly. She reversed slowly then pulled away.

The journey would take them an hour and twenty minutes.

“How are you enjoying the engineering course Gerald?

“Yes it’s very good I am learning about turbine engines and how to repair mining equipment.”

“Is that something you would be interested in as far as employment is concerned? You could be earning a hell of a lot of money Gerald repairing the mining equipment rather than slaving down there for very little.

“Yes; I think that repairing machinery would be a good move for me. I like tinkering with things.”

“Good Gerald; I can see that you have vision.”

“The coal mining industry is coming to an end Elizabeth I know it and so does the work force. I must have something to fall back on so this looks like a realistic option.”

“Wow! Gerald that is the first time you have really spoken intellectually.
