49. Kilo Chapter 48

The builders had started building the new bathroom and inside toilet the following week.
Jack also had a study added to the property as well as an extension on both bedrooms as Tilly would need a room of her own room soon. Nelly wasn’t happy about the upheaval and the mess but it wouldn’t be forever plus she relished the thought of having a proper bath in the house jack had a back boiler installed so that the water would be heated from the fire. The total cost was eight hundred and ninety pounds. They all agreed that the job was worth every penny. Later Jack would take down the old shed and outside toilet then the yard would be extended so that Tilly could have somewhere to play. Jack had double doors put on the back as well so that he could drive the car in there and leave it under the portico.

Nigel and Gino had gone on holiday to Italy to see Gino’s parents for a week so jack was going around to the house to keep an eye on it. So instead of taking Kilo down to the beach after he had devoured two pounds of meat they went to Nigel’s house.
Kilo was now fully grown he stood eighteen inches from the ground and weighed about four stones. His legs were so strong and he was solid muscle. It was hard to believe that he was so small when he first recued him.
There was a photo of him shortly after he brought him home which took pride of place on the wall at home. Even Nigel had a family photo with Kilo sitting beside Jack on his wall.

On Jack’s birthday he took the whole family out to the Lake District where they had a good walk with Kilo They walked through Pater dale, Ullse water. The sights from the countryside intrigued both Kate and Jack. “I could retire here you know Jack said.” Tilly loved the farm where they went to feed the animals. There were lambs for Tilly to play with and she would have been content to have stayed all day. Later they stopped off in Keswick at a local pub where they had a meal and a drink.
I think the walk had certainly taken its toll on his mother who after eating her meal was beginning to nod off so they decided to head back.
The mountains and greenery was simply breath taking as they drove back.
It was even better to be able to have a shower in their new bathroom.
Tilly loved playing in the bath with her plastic ducks.
We got Tilly out of the bath dried her off then got her into her pyjamas.
She went to bed without complaint and was asleep in half an hour.
They had the court case in the morning and all three of them were not looking forward to it. This time both Jack and his mother would have to take the stand.
