32. Kilo Chapter 32

Jack returned home feeling better than he had gone out but the threat still hung over his shoulders. He played around with the broth that Katie had made him and he just couldn’t get it out of his mind. Tilly would be two years old in three weeks time.
There was no way on this earth that he was going to stand by and allow the Rochdale’s to take Tilly from him.
It would break his mother’s heart because she had done just about every thing for the child. It was like Tilly was the daughter she never had.
It was with a heavy heart that jack went to bed with that night.

When the Sunday arrived for Tilly to go to the Rochdale’s, Nelly made sure that she looked very pretty and put on a lovely lemon dress and a lemon bonnet tied with a yellow ribbon.
The black ford deluxe 2dr sedan with white trims around the tyres pulled up outside. The driver got out and opened the door for Sir Jeffery Rochdale.
Using his walking stick with gold handle he knocked on the door.
The neighbourhood were out in force as they made excuse to come out to have a look.
Nelly came to the door and led Tilly to the car. She will be brought back at seven Mrs Reamer.
“Come Tilly sit with granddad.” Tilly did as she was told, then said bye, bye mama as the car drove off.
Nelly came back into the house crying. Kate hugged her and told her not to get upset.

The Ford pulled into the grounds that surrounded Hartford Manor  as the car pulled up to the main entrance the servants came out to see the child Sir Jeffery led the child through the main doors into the massive hallway and into the study where Edward was standing drinking brandy.
“So this is my daughter said Edward; she resembles her mother.”
“If only your mother could have lived long enough to see her.
I will have the maid bring her toys and cake to eat.
“How long will she be staying father?
I have said I would bring her back at seven this evening.
I have spoken with my lawyers and they have said that the Reamers do not have any legal rights to the child. Of course I will pay them off then that will see an end to the matter.
She will be brought up as you were in this house by a nanny who I have already engaged.
She will be brought up as a lady Edward; she will be educated by a private tutor.
She will learn to ride when she is a little older.
There was a knock at the door and the toys were brought in for Tilly to play with.
Tilly took to a little doll that when bent forward giggled and the eyes moved.
