1. Not as it Seems

At a deserted Teen summer camp, there was a group of teens. Now, you’re probably thinking: “Well duh. You just said at a TEEN summer camp.” Well yes, but they weren’t there for summer camp. It wasn’t even summer; it was a week before Halloween. They were at the place of abandoned cabins and creepy woods. Annabeth, Percy, Piper, and Jason were a group of four who didn’t know of the peril in the near future. They had listened to Annabeth tell a ghost story about a ginormous, vicious dog that hunted, and killed, teens for his master at night while they slept. Piper was tentatively listening; she sometimes believed these kinds of horror stories, and would get scared. Piper twisted her brown choppy hair and her green eyes would flash with nervousness at the hair-raising, and spine-chilling parts. Then they heard it. Snap!

A branch broke. They weren’t alone. Percy had felt foreboding, but ignored it when he said,

“It’s probably not what you’re all thinking.” Then, a howl. Piper’s face had been pure white, like she had seen a ghost. They all knew how scared Piper could get.

“Piper, it’s impossible. The story is all just a myth.” Annabeth added.

“Yeah, sure. You can all think that, but I’m getting out of here before I get killed.” Piper sprinted off, and they couldn’t see her short frame under the full moon anymore.

“We have to go after her. We can’t leave her alone out there, even if there is nothing there. She could get lost.” Jason pleaded. “Come on.” Jason started to jog away from the fire.

They had been sprinting in and out of the woods, behind and through the cabins (which all had exactly four bunk beds, six desks, and 2 bookshelves), over the basketball courts with broken backboards, and across the dining hall, full of empty picnic tables. The clock was nearing midnight and Piper still hasn't been seen. Then they heard a very high pitched, girly shriek.

“Piper? Piper we’re coming! Hold on!” Jason yelled in hopes he would be heard and they wouldn’t find a dead body. They started sprinting that way, and ended up cornered, but they were with Piper.

“It’s-it’s in there.” Piper said and pointed to the bush that was barely five feet away. The bushes started to rumble, they heard growls, and barks, as the teens turned away, and waited for their fate to come, they were surprised.

“Huh?” Jason asked looking at the very “ginormous, vicious dog”.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Annabeth said, exasperated.

“I was frightened of that.” Piper asked annoyed.

“Mrs. O’Leary! How’d you get here?” Percy exclaimed, with a happy, but confused face. Percy’s poodle had some how found her own way to the camp and followed the teens around.
