7. Secret Admirer

I went back to the castle that night, with the help from Jasmine, we packed my clothes and valuables. I wanted to bring all my stuff because I knew I wasn’t coming back. I was going home, with my true parents. Though we don’t know what fate lies for me, whether or not I am mortal or immortal. Mother, believes that I am immortal for the fact that after Father killed the shade, Durza, who managed to hurt Father along his spine, well the first time he visited  Ellesméra, it was during some ceremony, that the elves do every year, I can’t remember what it is called but anyway it changed my father. See he was born human, but that little ceremony made him elvish, if that was even possible, it healed the wound that he received from Durza. He was anyway because of being a Dragon Rider, which is another reason why Mother believes that I am immortal.

I looked at my room and saw that it was nearly empty, the only thing that was left was my crown, and the gift from a man that I never opened, and he was a secret admirer. I never bothered to open it, because of the fact that as a Princess you get a lot of secret admirers, you need not to get attached to them. Weirdly though, he was my only one, and I am pretty sure I have never met him.

“My Lady you have a visitor,” one of the maids bowed to me as she told me.

“Who are they?” trying to figure out who in the world would want to visit me, now out of all the time someone could have visit me. She looked at my unopened present.

“Your secret admirer, has finally decided to reveal himself, My Lady.” I quickly looked at her as realization hit me. I went to the present that has been sitting there for 10 years, and finally opened it. There was a child’s drawing that I recognized, a shell that I also recognized as well, then a necklace, earrings, and bracelet, made out of nothing but emerald. The drawing though, was one I drew and gave my best friend, his mother used to be my nanny in the castle and I played with her son. I was always so jealous of him, because he was a full elf and he knew exactly who his parents was, then it dawned on to me.

“Thoralas,” I cooed, and affectionately stroke the shell, that I gave to him. Then I ran out of my room and down stairs. I had a crush on him, ever since I was little, but when I started to get old enough where I could start training and the man who raised me saw how close I was to an elf, a servant, he fired his mom, and they had to leave. In the kingdom, elves are the ones that are normally the maids, nannies, cooks, or messengers, because they are so different that they are alienated. “Thoralas! Where are you?” I heard a deep laugh, but I couldn’t seem to see my friend.

“Little Annie, I’m right here,” I looked down, and my jaw dropped. He was a dark tan, with long black curly locks, stormy gray eyes, a smile that makes one’s heart skip a beat, his arms… round and toned, he was very tall, and he had a single rose in his hand.

“Thoralas, is that you?” I asked unsure that such a gorgeous elf was my childhood crush and best friend. My surprise made him laugh again as he turned around and I looked him up and down, checking him out.

“Yes, Annie, it is me,” his smile faded. “Sorry it took me so long, My Lady,” I squealed and jumped off the stairs and he caught me. He held me with his one arm while I wrapped my legs around his waist and he held me like a little child.

“Shut it. When did you become so…” I paused trying to find the word.

“Beautiful?” he supplied and I nodded. He laughed which caused me to blush and giggle. He set me down and handed me the rose.

“I have been like this since about 13, about 5 years after you Father fired my Mum,” that was when I looked down.

“He is not my Father, Thoralas,” I looked up, and quickly looked away, trying to be the Princess I was raised to be. My true heritage may have been found out but, I am still a Princess, of what may have changed but the title is still the same.

“Yeah I heard, which is why, I decided to come and fulfill my promise now instead of later. You don’t need to continue being proper for me, I mean after all I ate dirt with you,” that made me laugh again.

“That is true,” I sniffed the rose that he gave me and smiled. “I should have known that you would be my secret admirer,” he smiled.

“I told you that I would always be your number one,” that was when he got down on his knees. “Annabell Damortia daughter of Aria and Eragon, would you like to be my wife?” I nodded and he picked me up and spun me. Then he set me down and looked at me with a look that I haven’t seen in a very long time.

“You have to come to Ellesméra with me now, I am not going without my Fiancé, and I have to go,” his jaw dropped.

“I have never been to my homeland,” he looked at me, with such affection, I didn’t know if I needed a shield, or to absorb it all. “Yeah, I will go with you. But why do you need to go to Ellesméra?” he asked. That was when my dragon, gilded down the space in the spiral of the stairs. I caught her and she sat on my shoulder. His eyes widened. “What is that?” he asked in horror. I looked at my dragon and I could see the hurt in her eyes, so I reached up and she murmured and rubbed against my hand.

“As I was saying, I have to go Ellesméra because I am a Dragon Rider, and this is my dragon. My parents are Dragon Riders. Eragon Bromson, and Aria daughter of the Queen of Ellesméra,” his eyes widened. “Please, Thoralas, come with me,” I begged. He just asked me for my hand in marriage, I want no one at my side than him and my dragon.

“Annabell? Where are you?” I turned as I heard Mother call my name.

“Thoralas, I am begging you, I want you to come with me please,” he looked at me and my dragon, and finally he nodded. I took his hand and ran up the stairs and went to my room where my mother stood.
