Every Other Weekend (Payzer/Sophiam)

Ali and Rachel Payne are devastated when their parents, Liam and Danielle split, and are suspicious about their dad's new girlfriend, Sophia.

1. A Night Out

"Rachel, give me my phone!" I reach for it, but her arm keeps my blue iPhone out of reach. "Seriously, stop taking my stuff!"

She smirks at my desperate attempts to retrieve my phone from her. "I'm good."

She taps her acrylic nails against the screen, and my eyes widen.

"You're going to lock me out, stop it!"

"Oops," she smiles.

"What did you do?" I demand, and she hands me my phone.

'iPhone disabled' my screen reads, and I clench my teeth tightly together.

"Seriously! You just couldn't stop, you had to be immature and disable my phone?"

"Girls, what's going on?" My mom appears from the kitchen, her phone against her ear.

"Rachel disabled my phone and now I have to wait to get into it!"

"Rachel!" She groans in frustration. "I've told you countless times not to mess with Ali's stuff. You need to apologize. Okay? Now try not to kill each other for the next few minutes while I'm on the phone, okay?" She turns around and walks back into the kitchen.

"I'm sorry for disabling your phone," Rachel mumbles, in a callous tone and I roll my eyes.

I open my mouth to say something, but am cut off when my mom comes back from the kitchen.

"We're going out for dinner tonight, it's a fancy restaurant so please dress nicely."

I nod, and go up the stairs to my bedroom, closing and locking the door behind me so I can get ready. I walk over to my closet and pick out a dress. It's dark purple, with thin straps and a high- low skirt like bottom. I pair it with a pair of black wedges. I walk over to my full body length mirror and when I'm satisfied with my appearance, I grab my brush off my dresser and brush through my dark brown hair. It's already straight from this morning, so I decide to leave it as is.

I open my bedroom door, and walk down the stairs. Rachel's still getting ready. She's one of those really girly girls who takes her time to get ready, where as I'm the sporty one of us twins. I can look classy when I need to, but Rachel definitely wins the beauty queen award. After what feels like hours, there's the sound of a door creaking and the clicking of heels against our stairs. I look up to see my twin sister, as always, looking like a Barbie.

My dad's voice snaps me out of my jealousy.

"Okay girls, let's go."

"Girl you know what to do with that big fat butt, wiggle wiggle wiggle."

I sing along to my music as I brush my teeth.

Rachel and I were so close to staying the night at Taryn's house last night and having a sleepover with Reagan and Darcy, but my dad just had to say no because 'it's a school night'. Besides, Rachel was whining about not having her makeup or a change of clothes, so we kind of had to come back home. I put my hair up in a messy bun. Today I have volleyball practice after school, so I'm dressed in my uniform shirt, and a pair of black soccer style shorts.

"Rachel?" I knock lightly on her door. "Are you ready?"

"Just a minute."

I let out a loud yawn as I tap my foot against the floor as I wait for her.

Finally, the door opens, revealing Rachel with her hair curled and makeup done to perfection, clad in a white T shirt, yellow skater skirt, and white lace TOMS.

We make our way outside to the driveway. We get in our mom's car, and are off to school, singing along to 'Something Big' by Shawn Mendes when it comes on the radio.
