The Giant yellow Caterpillars

This is a story told from the perspective of animals - with a twist right at the end which I hope you enjoy. It has a bit of an environmental message as the animals are trying to save their sacred tree. I won a prize for this at school so I hope it's OK. Please read it and let me know what you think..

5. The arrival

~~
As we peered through the hole, we saw what had made the horrific noise - some things which looked like giant yellow caterpillars.  They each had two very odd looking legs which seemed to go round and round endlessly.  They had two black antennae and a shovel like mouth.  Their surface was as hard and shiny as a beetle’s shell and you could see right through their giant eye.  They left in their wake a pathway like the one left by deer only ten times wider.

All the animals around were horrified.  They were running around in sheer terror as their homes were getting destroyed, crushed by the yellow caterpillars.  There were mothers calling for their children and panic everywhere.
