A Universe Trapped in a Labyrinth

This is my boring and interesting and teenager life spanning from age 15 to 18 (May 2015-August 2018)
Within you'll find many re-inventions of myself, boy trouble, school trouble and life trouble. (Plus interesting bits I thought I would include as well).
Do you dare to enter the maze?

155. Pub Quizzes

03/04/2018, 11:56,

Last week I attended several pub quizzes several days in a row. On two of the times I didn't realise that there was a quiz on and then we just stayed for it anyway, but hey it still counts.

The first one was not a local pub, more like a village over if you can say that, but we first went for food and saw a sign saying that the pub quiz was on at eight. So we stayed, getting dessert to go along with it and settled down for the quiz. It wasn't ran by the pub itself but rather a group of regulars (who had been there for years due to their senior status) and it was set out like bingo. He called out a number and a question that corresponded with that number, you had to get a line to win money and four free pints. Sadly we did horrible at that quiz, all the questions being  tailored to the older generation and we were the youngest patrons there to be honest. But we had a go and we had a laugh while trying to figure out the answers.

The second one, just a day after that, was more spontaneous. Right after college my friends asked if I wanted to go to our local pub and I was poor as dirt (because I'm saving for uni and I am being very strict with my budgeting). But thankfully one of my friends offered to pay for me and so I got more dessert. There was also a juke box which we took turns picking the music, our music tastes were so well liked that the owner turned the music up. Again we didn't realise the quiz was on until later and we just decided to stay for it. We filled the time with a game of darts, my first time playing a proper game (those hits on a dart board when I was eleven don't really count). I was abysmal at it, two of my darts would hit the wall (not the board, the wall) and then one of them would be good, I even got a bullseye once. Then because the quiz was starting and we both  needed double two to win, we decided that whoever got the highest score with one dart would win the game. Guess who got that highest score? Yup me, so I won by default.

The quiz this time was better, more suited to our generation with a mix of questions. What made it even better was that a couple brought their dog and passed doggy chocolates around for us to feed him. It was awesome.

We won a fiver that night which bought another round of drinks and then with full stomachs we made our way home, stupidly trekking through the woods. These woods also had an obstacle course so it was fun to watch my tipsy friends try to navigate it in the dark, only lit with phone torch light.

Knowing me I am now obsessed with pub quizzes, loving the company and the laughs and they are probably going to become a regular thing in my life now.
