A Universe Trapped in a Labyrinth

This is my boring and interesting and teenager life spanning from age 15 to 18 (and hopefully beyond).
Within you'll find many re-inventions of myself, boy trouble, school trouble and life trouble. (Plus interesting bits I thought I would include as well).
Do you dare to enter the maze?

81. A thank you wrapped in an entry

14th October 2015

This morning I was awoken by the sharp ping of a notification on my phone. At half six in the morning I would usually be cursing the hell out of anyone daring to wake me (as you can tell I am not a morning person at all) but it turned out to be something wonderful.

I actually won the competition that made this mammoth of a diary possible.

I couldn’t believe it.

I spilled my tea over it.

I never really thought that I would win it to start with, what with all the other amazing writers out there and only 12 chances of winning. But I have and I’m so grateful to those who’ve read this, liked this, and the Movellas Team for not only judging it but for making all of this possible.

So as a sign of my gratification I’m going to share my story of how Movellas came into my life.

My relationship with Movellas began in 2013 where I was scrolling through Facebook. This was around the time where I was hunting for any ‘City of Bones’ movie adaption spoilers or hints, when I came across a competition to do exactly with what I was looking for. That was where it all began and I clicked on the link, had a look, read a couple of things and a lightbulb went off somewhere in my mind.

I would say that I had an epiphany or something like that, but that would be disguising the four hours that I spent debating with myself whether or not I wanted to publish my creative writing. Do you know the classic angel and devil on your shoulders? Well, that happened. I was in a debate whether or not it was worth it, would people actually like what I had written? Would they actually read it in the first place? I decided to give it a try because you never know unless you take that first leap of faith.

Hey ho I created an account (the username coming from the slogan on my favourite top), wrote for that competition, pressed the enter button and waited. I didn’t win in that occasion but Movellas served as an electronic library where my writing wouldn’t rot in my documents folder forever.

Why did I write that in the past tense, Movellas still does that!

I suppose I’m still here because this is my sanctuary, a place I retreat to when things go a bit topsy turvy. And although I don’t read as much as I should on here, or get out like I would like to those are just other leaps of faiths that I will one day take. I’m glad that I jumped over that first hurdle because you are all so nice and welcoming, who doesn’t like to read fantastic work and who doesn’t sometimes like getting free books because of your writing.

All I’ve got to say is thank you.

K.
