85. Chapter 85 : Reckless Ways

Calum's POV

It was midnight and she still wasn't home. I had called her and texted her several times but it only went to her voicemail. I set my phone face down on the island before turning to the refrigerator and opening the silver doors. I reached inside and grabbed a bottle of Corona beer.

I popped the cap off and took a long drink. Where could she be? Thoughts about her swarmed my head and I felt overwhelmed. My elbows rested on the granite counter top. I cradled by head in between my hands. I checked my phone once again to see if Helen decided to text me. Nothing.

Ten minutes later I finished the beer and began sliding the bottle from one hand to the other. I huffed in frustration and slammed my hands on the island. After calming myself, I pushed my self away from the island and went back to the fridge to get another beer.

My eyelids began getting heavy and my head occasionally fell from my hand. The bottle in front of my was half empty. The house was silent. No noise expect the sound of the waves crashing on the sandy shore just feet away. I made my way to the large windows. I saw the moon illuminating the water, it looked dark blue.

I heard the sound of the front door being unlocked followed by the sound of someone stumbling in. I made my way to the door where Helen was closing the door behind her. I turned on the lights and she jumped slightly. She turned and I finally got to see her.

She squinted at the sudden light and she looked worn out. There was a bottle of vodka in on of her hands, it was barely empty.

"Where have you been?" I asked.

"I was-I," She began.

I raised one of my eyebrows at her.

She sighed, "I was at a club with Adin and some friends."

I rubbed my temple, "You know I don't like it when you're at clubs."

She bit her lip.

"Why did you lie to me when you said you'd be at the shop when in reality, the store was closed all day," I added. "And why didn't you tell me about the band?"

She froze, " How'd you know about that?"

"I saw you play. I was the the bar where you and the band performed," I said.

She looked down and lifted the bottle, "I brought you this."

I walked forward and took it the liquor from her hand, "Thanks."

She nodded and began walking past me but I grabbed her arm and pulled her to my chest. I wrapped my arms around her and held her tightly, "Please, just next time, tell me where you'll be going so I can at least go with you. I don't like it when you're alone at clubs."

"I was with Adin, Cal."

"I know, but still." I looked at her before bending down and lightly placing a kiss on her lips. "You're a great drummer. Ashton was impressed."

She laughed, "We weren't bad, were we?"

I shook my head, "You guys were amazing."

She shrugged, "We tried our best. Are you hungry?"

"Nah, but I am extremely tired."

She nodded, "You could've just gone to sleep without waiting for me."

I placed the bottle on the coffee table, "I don't sleep at all without you pressed up against me."

She smiled slightly and I followed her up the stairs. We reached the bedroom and I opened the door for her.

"How was your day?" I asked as I start to strip on my jeans in the closet.

"It was good," She replied as she searched for a shirt to wear. "You?"

I shrugged, "It was alright." I took my shirt over my head and tossed it to her. "Wear that"

She shook her head and smiled before pulling it on. I changed into my sweats and went into the bathroom. Helen came in shortly after. My shirt was big on her so it cut off mid-thigh. Her hair was up in a bun. I squeezed it because I know she hates that.

"You're gonna mess it up," She glared at me before splashing water on her face. "Where's my toothbrush?" She asked.

I shrugged.

"You're not using mine, are you?" She asked.

I took the toothbrush out of my mouth and examined it, "Nope, this one is mine."

She huffed, "Oh! I left it in the shower," She went into the steam shower and grabbed her toothbrush before walking back to the sink.

Finally we were both done, I turned the bathroom lights off and walked to the bed where Helen was already curled under the sheets. I climbed in next to her and pressed her against me. I took a deep breath and relaxed.

"I'll never let you go," I said as I kissed her forehead. "I need you more and more everyday."

She smiled, "Calum Thomas Hood, you are an amazing human being." She pecked my lips before snuggling close to me. I smiled to myself before falling into a deep sleep.
