41. Chapter 41 : Mikey's Butt Call

Helen's POV

"BARRY NO!" I screamed at the screen.

I was watching The Flash and eating pizza. It was a very intense episode and I was hooked. I had two episodes left until the season would be over and I was planning on finishing it today.

Even though it was almost 2 AM.

I suddenly heard the Pokémon theme song. I pressed pause on the show and was confused for half a second. Then I remembered it was Michael's ringtone.

I grabbed my phone and answered it.

"Michael, this better be important. I'm watching The Flash and you know this is vital to me so hurry up," I said quickly.

"That's not bad," I heard him say.

"What?" I asked.

He giggled.

"Michael this is not funny!" I exclaimed.

"Okay, okay. You're not playing the chords right!"

"I'm trying!" I heard Calum laugh.

I realized it was probably a butt dial. I huffed and was about to hang up.

"So how are you and Helen?" Michael asked.

I froze and the conversation suddenly had my full attention. I know that eavesdropping is probably not the best thing but my relationship with Calum is my thing.

"We're great actually. Why you ask?" Calum asked.

"Just surprised that you've lasted this long, you know with you being scared of commitment and all," Michael added.

Calum is scared of commitment? He's never told me that. But then again why would he tell me?

"Yes I'm scared of commitment but Helen hasn't brought up marrige or kids. She hasn't even looked at wedding rings nor engagement rings. I think neither of us are ready," Calum explained.

"Not like Lilly," Michael snorted.

Hold up, who the hell is Lilly?

Calum groaned, "3 months in the relationship and she started looking at wedding dresses and nagging me about children! I was barely 16! So glad left me for Chase Smith."

"At least Helen isn't like that," Michael said.

"Yes, bless her soul." He paused. "She's different. She's special. We both know we're not ready for that and if we ever are then it'll be worth the time. Helen doesn't push into something cause she's not pushy. What's crazy is that she's probably gonna be the one to change my mind on commitment. To make me believe that there's such thing as forever in a relationship."

Michael's POV

I looked at Calum as he spoke. His eyes gleamed when he talked about Helen and the happiness was very noticeable in his voice.

I nodded and pulled my phone out. My eyes widened when I saw the screen that read 'Helena.' She's been on the line for the last 5 minutes.

Which is how long Calum and I have been talking. But I didn't even hear her call. I should know, her ringtone is in fact 'Helena' by My Chemical Romance.

I looked at Calum as he continued to babble on about her. I made various signals with my hands that told him to shut up.

He looked at me, eyebrows furrowed. "What's the matter with you?"

I pointed to my phone screen.

Calum's POV

I looked at Michael's screen and my eyes widened when I saw that Helen was on the other line.

"Oh shit!" I said.

"What do I do?!" Michael asked freaking out.

"I don't know!" I stood up and began to look for my own phone.

"I hung up!" He said.

"Why would you do that! Now she's gonna think I did something wrong!"

"Bro, she listened to our entire conversation," Michael added.

"She what?" I asked.

"She heard the whole thing! How I said you were scared of commitment, marrige all that! She heard it."

"Fuck! What the hell am I gonna tell her now?" I asked.

"I don't know!" Michael exclaimed.

I found my phone and quickly dialed Helen's number.

"But what should I tell her?!"

"Well, I should go now. This is no longer my problem I am gone," Michael quickly scurried out of the room and left me alone to fix my probably-confused girlfriend.

Helen's POV

I stared at my blank phone screen. Michael barely hung up and I was confused as hell. Mainly cause of the conversation I just heard.

I mean, Calum is scared of commitment! He never told me! Nor about this so-called "Lily." No, I am not jealous, but I have a right to know before he starts bringing up random girl's names.

Whatever, I'll just go back to watching The Flash. I pressed play on my tv. As soon as I did that my phone went off.

I groaned.

"Who the fuck is it now?" I growled.

The ringtone told me it was Calum.

"Oh, it's him."

I grabbed my phone and tapped the screen.

"Hello," I answered.

"Babe, are you mad?" Calum asked tenaciously.

"No, what I'm mad about is that nobody lets me watch my damn show cause everyone keeps calling me!" I exclaimed.

"Baby, I'm sorry." He said.

Great, now I feel like an asshole.

"It's fine. Now what do you want?" I asked.

"Look, I know you heard the conversation and yes I am scared of commitment. I know I should of told you but c'mon! How do you tell your girlfriend? 'Hey sweetheart! I'm scared of getting married and/or long ass relationships! Let's go get dinner, yea?' That sounds fucking stupid! Commitment is a scary thought. Well at least to me it is. You, so far, haven't brought up marrige and I love you so much for that. I personally think we're not ready. It's not the right time and we're much too young. I'm very sorry you had to find out this way, through a butt call, but I promise you, my fear of commitment doesn't make me love you any less."

I let his words sink in. After several seconds of me finding the right words to say, I finally spoke up.

"Oh Calum. You're right. Commitment is a scary thought. You're also right on the fact that we're too young to even think about marrige! I'm getting a headache even thinking about the topic itself. Look, I'll respect whatever decision you decide to make for us in the future. As long as you're happy. That's all that matters to me. I don't care about engagement or wedding rings. I want happiness in this relationship. No more, no less."

"You know my ex probably wouldn't have let me gotten through, 'scared of commitment.'" Calum stated.

I giggled.

"So, I love you for that," he said.

"Love you too," I paused. "My greek god." I exasperated.

"Still using that, huh?" He laughed.

"Yup."

"Okay, I'm gonna let you go so you can finish your episodes. Pretty sure Netflix has told if you want to continue watching," He said.

I scoffed, "Rude."

He laughed at my sarcasm. "Okay, love you baby."

"Love you too, Cal. Bye," I hung up and quickly pressed play. This time, no one interrupted my The Flash-binge.
