29. Chapter 29 : Torment

Calum's POV

I shifted in my bed. The person next to me moved as well. I looked over, confused because I had fallen asleep alone.

There she was.

Her eyes closed, eyelashes rested against her smooth cheeks. Her face looked angelic as she slept. So peaceful. Her plump lips sealed shut and I heard her steady breathing.

I caressed her cheek as if to make sure she wasn't a hologram. Solid. Her skin warm and smooth as I ran my finger over it.

Her black hair was messy and all over the place. I smiled.

Helen.

I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her to my body. She rolled over and hugged my stomach as she always did.

Her familiar presence calmed me. She used my shoulder as a pillow and continued to sleep. I kissed her forehead and took a deep breath.

I looked up at the ceiling as I held Helen close to me as I've done dozens of times. I felt her leg on my hip.

She told be before that this is how she slept when I wasn't around and all she had was a pillow to cuddle with.

I smiled to myself and let my hand fall on her thigh.

"I missed you so much," I whispered. "I'm so glad you're here.

"What are you talking about Calum?" She asked. "I'm not here."

"What?" I asked confused.

"Wake up," she said. "This isn't real." She looked at me with those piercing blue eyes.

I sat bolt upright and gasped. My forehead was beaded with sweat. I looked over. The spot was empty.

She's gone. She was never there in the first place, I told myself.

I exhaled.

"Why must my dreams be so damn cruel?"

Helen's POV

I woke up and groaned. I wasn't hungover, thank god but I decided what happened at that club STAYED at that club.

I rolled onto my back and something sharp started poking me. I pulled out a green stiletto. What the hell?

I tossed it to the floor and it landed with a THUMP! My phone rang. I groaned but answered.

"Hullo?" I mumbled.

"What happened last night?" Logan asked.

"I don't even remember. But I do remember you being dragged away from me by some stripper," I snorted.

"Male or female?"

"Surprisingly, female," I replied.

He groaned, "Let's never speak of this again."

"Agreed. Also that is the last time I go to a club with you. What happened last night.....I never want to experience that again."

"C'mon you had fun though, right?" He asked.

"I gotta admit, it was really fun but it got too crazy," I admitted.

"There's no such thing as too crazy," Logan said.

"Mhmm. Anyway, I gotta start packing cause I leave tomorrow."

"Oh right, California," he mumbled.

"Is there a problem?" I asked.

"No it's just, you're my only friend. Venus is always hanging with Travis and she never has time to hang out with me once you're gone. Plus Travis get really jealous when Venus is around any other guys."

"Travis is so controlling. I honestly don't know why Venus decided to get with him. I mean sure I wanted them to get together, but now that I know how he is in a relationship, I want her out of it."

"He's such a douche."

"Don't remind me," I said. "Anyway I'll talk to you later."

"Okay, bye Helen."

"Later," I hung up and took a deep breath. I scrolled through twitter when I saw a post that made me stop scrolling.

It was a new song by the guys. Called English Love Affair.

And all I could think of was what had happened with Calum and I between the sheets of my California king sized bed.
