1. Today, Zayn Malik left One Direction.

I haven’t been there from the beginning. I wasn’t a fan in the x-factor days, hell – I didn’t even know that they existed. I wasn’t there to be sad that they came in third. I wasn’t there to celebrate that they got a contract at Syco anyways – and you know what? It is okay. It doesn’t define me, and it wouldn’t have, if I was a fan from the beginning. What matters is, I support them.

A friend of mine were doing a drawing of the lyrics to What Makes You Beautiful the day it came out – and I thought that it sounded great. I listened to it a couple of times, and I started to hate it. Everybody was by then, listening to it and I hated them for it too. I liked the lyrics, but I absolutely hated the band – the band that I had never heard of before. Then, some more songs came out, and I remember that I absolutely loved “Another World” and I adored Louis Tomlinson. I was mad about him not having as many solos as Liam Payne or Harry Styles. I then started to adore Niall Horan – thinking that his voice was incredible, and I couldn’t believe, that he didn’t get any solos either. I then became a fan. I couldn’t believe that I hated them in the first place.

They released Take Me Home, and I was over the moon. I thought that these songs were better than any of the other they had released. Fifth of May came, and I got to see them in Herning – I got to see their first concert in Denmark, and it was amazing. It was the best concert that I had ever been to. I then, the year after was to their Where We Are Tour in Copenhagen, the last time they were in Denmark – this time, sure it was great, but people were rude – they were pushing, and multiple of people had to get taking away from the concert because they were passing out – the concert was great, but the experience were horrible. Those two times I got to see five members of One Direction, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, goofing around on stage. This year, on the sixteenth of June, in Horsens, I get to see four members of One Direction goofing around on stage – because this time it will be without Zayn Malik.

To be honest, I always thought, that when one of them left (and to be realistic, it had to happen at one point) I always thought that would be it for the band. I didn’t think, that they would carry on being together. I honestly didn’t. They’ve been through so much together, and I didn’t think that they’d be able to just… continue. But I’ve proud of them. I’m sure they’re supportive of Zayn and his decision. I truly am.

To be honest, I am happy for him. He wants to be a normal 22-year-old, away from the spotlight – he wants to live a normal life. The truth is. He never will. He is known all around the world. He is known as Zayn Malik, one-fifth of One Direction. Now, he is known as the person, who quit One Direction – and it saddens me.

I once told Harry I was leaving the band on February 30th. He cried for hours until he realized there was no February 30th. ~ Zayn Malik, former member of One Direction
