He saw the girl on the shop. Looking at the hair dyes. He couldn't stop staring at her. She was beautiful. She didn't notice him though. And he was glad. It would've been an awkward situation.
She went to pay for her items. He caught a last glance before she dissapeared around the corner.
She wanted to meet her. How would that go? He couldn't talk. He couldn't hear. He was the outcast. She would surely have the voice of an angel and he wouldn't be able to hear it. Maybe she would laugh at him.
He was a few aisles away. Looking for some deodorant. Waiting for Ashton to come get him.
He shared an apartment with Ashton. Luke's side of the rent comes from the money he has saved up fro years. Ashton's side of the rent came from his job.
Luke had met Ashton years ago. When Luke realized his family thought he was a nobody, he went to Ashton for help. That's how they ended up living together.
Luke had realized his family thought wrong of him. They didn't care about him. They just kept him in their house because they weren't that heartless to throw him out. But he overheard his parents talking one night.
"It's not worth it."
"He's just worthless."
"We should've put him up for adoption, the minute they told us he was deaf."
"Yeah we should've. There's no way of saving him. it would cost way too much."
Many more things were said. Some, Luke doesn't even want to remember.
Luke felt like crying. He did what anyone would've done.
He ran away.
He went straight to Ashton's flat. Ashton opened the door to a tear stained face. After Luke told him what happened, Ashton didn't want Luke to go back. So he offered him the spare room at his flat.
They have been living together for a year now. It worked. To them it worked living together.
Luke already had chosen the deodorant, when he felt a hand on his shoulder.'He turned around to see Ashton.
"Should we go pay for this?" Ashton signed.
"Yes, I'm starving. Can we go eat lunch then?"
"Sure why not" Ashton smiled at Luke.
After learning that Luke was deaf, Ashton decided on learning sign language. He went days straight without taking his eyes off the computer. He wanted to learn as fast as possible.
After 5 days of learning, Luke and Ashton met at the Starbucks down the street. Ashton was excited. He has waited for the day when he could stop talking with Luke through text messages.
Luke was about to take his phone out when Ashton stopped him.
"I know sign language now." Ashton signed, slowly but surely.
Luke's smile has never been bigger. No one knew enough sign language to talk to him so fluently.
His family knew the basics. They didn't care anyway.
The rest of the day, Luke taught some more things to Ashton. The smile neer leaving his face.
"We can go home and order some pizza?" Ashton asked Luke.
"Sure, I don't mind."
Luke and Ashton spend the rest of the day watching movies, eating pizza and enjoying each other's company.
