"I bet I didn't get the job." I said, pacing around my room.
"Would you relax? They probably had a lot of applicants and it's probably taking a while." said Gabby, who is sitting cross legged on my bed.
"No, I didn't get it and that's why they haven't called me." I said, still pacing.
"God, Em, you're worrying for nothing." said Gabby.
"I can't calm down, I need this job." I said.
"You don't need this job." she said.
"Yes, I do. The colleges I applied to put me on the waiting list, so I have to wait a whole year and at least this job will keep me busy." I said.
"You should've applied to more than two colleges." she said.
"So you haven't applied to any."
"I don't know what I want to do yet, so I'm just going to wait another year and there's nothing wrong with that." she said.
It was a wonder that the two of us were friends. We couldn't be more different, I've always had a plan for myself, but she just sort of goes with the flow and just does whatever. I'm so shy that if some guy I barely knew came up to me I'd freeze right there, Gabby on the other hand would talk the guy's ear off. We also are different in appearance, she's blonde, I'm brunette. I'm a bit taller too, but not by much, and my eyes are dark blue, while hers are a light blue. Like I said, we couldn't be more different, but we balance each other out. Back in high school Gabby would always set me up with guys because I was too scared to approach them myself. And I often helped Gabby in her classes. It's not that she wasn't smart, it's just she thinks she is. She's her own worst enemy.
"Yeah, I know there's nothing wrong with it. I just wish that I had to applied to more places." I said, sitting down next to her.
"Don't worry, you'll get the job and then by this time next year you'll be a college girl." she said.
"Yeah, if I get the job." I said, looking at my phone.
"You will, and then you'll get to meet One Direction." she says, practically swooning.
"I'm sorry, but you're just a little too obsessed." I said.
"Oh please, you love them too." she said.
"Yeah, I do, but if I get the job I can't act like some crazy obsessed fan. I need to be professional." I said.
"God, you're boring." said Gabby.
Just then the phone rang.
I pick it up quickly and answer.
"Is this Emma Johnson?" said a women from the other end.
"Well, I've called to inform you that you are now the new personal assistant of One Direction. We will expect you here in London in about a week. See you then." she said and hung up.
"Did you get the job?" asked Gabby.
"I got the job!" I squealed, jumping off the bed.
"Oh my god, this is great!" yelled Gabby
"I can't believe this is happening." I said.
"When do you have to go?" she asked.
"In a week."
"I'm so happy for you, but I'm also gonna miss you." she said.
"I want you to come with me." I said.
"What? I can't." she said, stunned.
"Why not? What else do you have going on?" I asked.
"I don't know." she said.
"It'll be so much fun, traveling the world with One Direction." I said.
"I'll have to talk to my parents about it, but I would love to go." she said, getting excited.
"I really hope you can come. It just wouldn't be the same without you." I said.
"Yeah, and I'll get to meet One Direction!" she squealed.
"If you do go, please don't act like some crazy obsessed fan. That's never attractive." I said.
"I can't help it! I love them so much."
"I know, but you've got to keep your cool."
"Alright. I promise I won't freak out when we meet them." she said.
"Thank you." I said.
I don't blame her for being excited, I'm pretty excited myself.
