A/N: Sorry 4 the super long update!!!
As Flo had suspected, the argument between Dianne and George was long and loud. George thought Dianne was being immature and idiotic, Dianne thought George was being a control freak. At last, it ended. I heard Dianne's bedroom door slam shut, and a few sobs from within.
I decided to go for a jog around the block to clear my head. What was supposed to be a quick five minute sprint, turned into a 30 minute long run around the entire neighbourhood. I fueled my exercise through my frustration. I didn't think the family could have gotten any worse, but it had. Mum had died, Dad was drunk 24/7, George had lied about his future, Dianne's secret boyfriend had stirred up a lot of trouble, and Alice didn't seem to belong anywhere. I was so lost in my thoughts I collided with someone who had been grudgingly walking along the street. Once I'd recovered myself, I realised it was Zach.
"Sorry" I apologised, for more than just the collision.
"That's alright" I gave him a hand up.
"Are...are you okay?" I checked.
"Not really" he admitted, "George really doesn't like me, doesn't he?"
"He's just confused and worried, we're all a little shaken up at the moment" I justified my brothers rudeness.
"I understand" I wasn't sure if he actually did.
"And Flo only wants what is best for us all" I added.
"Flo? Is that short for Florida by any chance?" His ears picked up her name.
"Yes, why?" And how did he know her full name anyway?
"That night at the pub, the one when I saw George chuck away his university applications..."
"Yes..." I prompted.
"Your mum was there too, arguing with some girl named Florida. I would have ignored it, but then my dad's name came up. Florida was going on and on about how she had betrayed the family, and about how she had been right all along. She said 'I told you to abort the baby! And now everyone's found out. It's not just me anymore, it's the entire family who have been affected'. Your mum was drunk and slurring out apologies and insults. I didn't think much of it.. until now that is." He explained.
"Zach, are you saying that Flo knew about Alice's true parentage?" I was taken aback, Flo had always been the most trustworthy member of our family.
"I think so" he sighed.
"I have to go" I muttered, sprinting off back home.
It was time to confront each and every Kroft, to solve this mystery...it was time for no more secrets.
