"Why are we stopping here?" I asked Daz. We were outside the 'Sour Apple' pub and garden. We'd been walking since early morning, he'd been unusually silent.
"Don't you want lunch, little shadow?" He asked me. This confused me,
"Yes, but don't we normally just stop at a chippy or something?" He rolled his eyes dramatically.
"Trust me, shadow-girl, this is the place we want to be." He assured me, so I followed him inside. Placing my sunglasses on to help hide my identity. The inside was rowdy but quite quiet. Daz lead me over to a table and went up to the bar to order. He was being a gentleman today, he liked to change his personality daily. A few of his core values remained though, his secrecy, his romance, his determination. When he sat back down he placed a coke in-front of me, I gave a mild chuckle at the memory of what I'd done to Jade. She had deserved it though.
"Something funny, shadow?" Daz inquired.
"It's nothing." I blushed, he stroked my pink cheeks, turning them red. This time he gave a mild chuckle.
"Daz." A voice interrupted. Daz looked up to see a man, about his age, with dark brown hair stairing at him.
"Simon." Daz greeted, his face could've been made from stone. I'd never seen him emotionless before.
"What buisness drags you back here then?" Simon asked, with a threatening tone to his voice.
"I don't know what your talking about," Daz said innocently, "I'm just having lunch with my girlfriend."
"I am not your..." I began to say, but Daz kicked my leg under the table, silencing me. Simon eyed me, as if examining me.
"This ones not at pretty as the others you've come with." He spoke to Daz, but his eyes were on me. The others? Did Daz do this a lot? What happened to the girls he hooked?
"You clearly don't see what I see." Daz defended me, I couldn't help noticing he didn't deny bringing others.
"Clearly." Simon agreed, then he broke his gaze on me to straighten his back. "I'll see you around." Then he left me and Daz alone.
"What was that all about?" I asked Daz.
"I think it's better if you stay in the dark about this, shadow." He told me. I was about to protest, when I realized it would probably be useless. We ate in silence, I could feel his eyes on me, as if he was worried I might do something stupid. He announced he was going to the toilet so I was left alone again. I spotted a guy at the bar looking at me weirdly. He'd been standing behind Simon when he'd came over. I felt as if I was in something I shouldn't be in, like there was a huge secret about to explode onto me and ruin my life. I was too involved in my suspicions I didn't realize how long Daz had been gone for. He came back at least 10 minutes later, looking worn down. He was wearing his sunglasses again, but there was a black rim forming above his cheek bone, like he had a black-eye coming.
"Dis something happen?" I asked, concerned.
"Just be quiet." He ordered. I did as I was told, but my curiosity was a burning fire that wouldn't be put out forever. I wanted to ask Daz over one million questions, but he'd probably either flirt, or tell me to shut up. I would have to snoop for my answers.
