One week, it's only been one week and it feels like forever. Liz keeps on complaining about how much she misses Ashton. Whenever she sees a certain object as pathetic as a leaf she goes mad. Today, she sat in the corner of the living room smelling a pillow because, "It smells faintly of Ashton's cologne."
Ashton is no better. The constant Skype, FaceTime, and phone calls are CRAZY. If Liz is in the shower and doesn't answer the phone right away, he calls and texts me rapidly. I kind of feel special, due to the lack of texts I get, but they are just coming from him, checking on Liz and her whereabouts.
Speaking of which, I am quite off the face of the earth when it comes to communicating through technology and whatnot. I haven't posted on Instagram in 3 months and my high school alumni have been asking Liz if I am dead. I literally just graduated and people already think I'm dead. The only texts I get are from my mom, but those come in once in a blue moon. They are usually pictures of African kids. She is doing swell and she is really content with the difference she is making in that small little village. My mom is cute like that.
I haven't really talked to Eric much since our "date". We texted saying, "Oh I had fun, thanks:)" but thats the extent to our conversations. We only talk through our SnapChat streak, which is at fourteen.
My whole week has consisted of quietness except Liz's complaints.
As I hop out of the shower and head towards my room, I see Liz and she stops me.
"Yes my love." I say with a smile.
"You have no life, and it worries me. I'm trying to live off of your drama for the next couple of weeks and you're not helping." She says desperately.
"Oh I'm doing quite well and I slept beautifully thanks for asking." I say as I push by her into my room. As we walk towards it, my phone buzzes. Liz screams and runs towards it.
"Oh my gosh, oh my, your first text in week and its from Marc. I forgot about him!" She says with a squeal.
"Yo, I am trying to sleep, shut up please Liz. Ashton is on tour we get it stop." Kyan says sleepily as he storms in my room.
"Shut up, I was squealing about how Rina got a text from Marc that says, 'Coming to pick you up. Be ready in 10 x.,' Isn't that just so cool?" She asks Kyan.
"Totally now shut up and let me sleep." He says as he walks back to his room.
"Sleep tight princess." I start, "Why does he have to come unexpectedly?" I cry out.
I run to my closet and put on the first spring dress I see since it goes with anywhere he could take me; casual or semi-formal.
"Oh please, it's romantic. You used to love when Luke did that." She says.
I snap my head in her direction as I finish brushing my hair. "Yeah, and I used to love that prick. What's your point?"
"Jeez, I was just saying." She puts her hands up as if she is surrendering.
The doorbell rings and she jumps up to run to the door. I slowly follow behind her. I see Marc as I walk down the stairs to the door. He looks super stressed.
"Can we go for a walk. I really need to talk to someone." He says.
"Of course." I say as I close the door behind us.
When we make it down the driveway, I start to question him. "What's wrong?"
"Whatever I say stays secret okay?" He asks but it sounds more like a demand.
I nod in response.
"My family is pretty important in the business world. We own a chain of luxury hotels. I usually don't tell people because they use me for money, but by the way you acted on our date, I could tell you're not like that." He says.
I giggle, "I'm taking that as a compliment. Carry on."
He smiles but it quickly fades as he continues, "My parents are really stressed about maintaining the business that it has costed them their marriage. They filed for divorce this morning. This doesn't really affect where I am going to live since I'm living on campus next year but it does suck."
"I'm sorry." I say.
"Thanks but today something bad happened. I wad talking with my mom and dad about the whole thing and they began to fight. My dad called my mom mean things and i could smell the whiskey on his breath. I told him to walk out if the house but he hit my mom then he stabbed me." He says in pain.
"What the fuck, with what and where?" I ask grabbing him by the shoulders.
"Oh the way I said it made it sound pretty bad, sorry. But it was with a fork in the arm. He barely punctured my skin, I'm just worried about my mom. Shes living with my aunt now." He says. Its cute how he care about his mom more than himself. But holy crap, A FORK?
We make it to the park and sit on the swings.
I pull up his sleeves and see a gauze on his right arm. I look at him and almost start to tear up.
"Gosh, you really can't judge a book by a cover. Has this happened before?" I ask.
"Not to this extent. Its mostly verbal. The stress caused him to be an alcoholic." He says.
"If you need anything, I'm here. I know its corny and you probably hear the same thing by everyone, but I'm serious." And I mean every word.
"You're actually the only person I've told." He says with a giggle. "Thanks though".
"If you ever want to crash at Liz's place since I am living there just hop on by. Her mom is chill and won't mind. Their a nice family. You don't deserve to live in hell."
He kisses me on the cheek. "Thank you."
I blush and he notices. He is so adorable, I can't handle it. His dimples make me melt. I've never melted over any guy besides dumb Luke.
"Can we go for some ice cream? I'll pay. It always makes me feel better." I say.
"That sounds great, but I am old fashioned. You cannot pay."
