The bell rang signalling the end of lunch. She watched as students ran past her classroom chatting excitedly. Occasionally she would catch them glancing into her classroom. Eventually as the amount of students started to thin out she stood up and made her way over to the door. She smiled to herself as the final students entered their classrooms.
“Hmm…looks like I don’t have a lesson.” She said.
“I wouldn’t count on that.”
She turned to face the voice.
“Well done.” He replied with a smile. “Oh, before I forget, the Head wants me to oversee a lesson that you have so we’re going to move my class into yours now and then we’re going to have you teach them.”
“So…your class moves into my classroom for a lesson and I teach them?”
“Yes…although it’s a little more difficult than that…you see you need to teach them and give them homework. Then we talk at the end and I speak with a few students and tell the Head at next week’s meeting.” He explained. “Now…” He turned to his class. “All of you hurry up and get into the class.”
She watched in amazement as all of the class ran into her room.
“Well…they seem excited...”
“Naruto was telling them how amazing you were…it’s no surprise really, you seem to have made a good impression on him.”
“Huh, I did? Well that’s good I guess.” She watched the class as they all took their seats. “I’m glad someone likes me.”
“I think that you’ve made a pretty good impression on a lot of people today.”
“Really? I didn’t think so…anyway, I think that I’ll have them write an essay-”
“On what they already know. They were taught things beforehand weren’t they?”
“No…the problem is that the other teacher left before they could finish teaching them.”
“So you’re saying that I have no way of knowing whether or not I’ll have them ready for the final exams?”
“Exactly what I’m saying.” He took out the book reading it.
“What book are you reading anyway? You always seem to be reading it.”
“This?” He looked up at her. “This is Makeout Paradise. It is written by Jiraiya, the Sex Ed teacher.”
“Wait as in the Jiraiya?”
“His books are big but….aren’t they supposed to be…you know?”
“You could say they are…entertaining. Now your class awaits you.” He told her taking a seat at the back.
“Yeah, I guess it does.” She turned to the class. “Alright then guys, today we’ll do a background lesson on Jekyll and Hyde. I heard that you didn’t know much about Jekyll and Hyde.”
“That’s not true Sensei!”
She looked up noticing the pink haired girl from her English class.
“We were taught a little bit!”
“Really he said that the other teacher left before teaching you anything?” She replied pointing towards Kakashi.
“We had a teacher for the last term before you arrived! They taught us the historical context of the book.” She carried on.
“Ah yes…I forgot about that. They were taught about the context but that was all they got through.” Kakashi explained.
“Huh, well it would’ve been nice to know that beforehand.” She sat down at her desk. “Well then Pinkie, tell me some historical context.”
“Pinkie…?” The girl asked confused.
“Yep!” Georgia replied with a smile. “I don’t know your name and your hair is pink. It was pretty easy to make a name for you. Now, historical context people!”
“Err…yes Sensei…well Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a book written by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was published in 1886 and is about a Dr. called Henry Jekyll, he splits his personality in to two. This was based on the idea that belief that many had in that time, that science had become too dangerous and was meddling in God’s work.” She told Georgia.
“Well…that was pretty good Pinkie.”
“Sensei my name is not Pinkie!” She shouted in a frustrated manner.
“Isn’t it? Huh…what is it then?” She asked picking up a copy of the book.
Georgia smiled as ‘Pinkie’ sighed.
“Right so I’m going to give you some homework. Over there in that cupboard is a pile of copies of the book. Take one home and read the first two chapters; chapter 1 The Story of the Door and chapter 2 – Searching for Mr. Hyde. Is that understood everyone?”
“Yes Sensei!” The class replied together.
“Good, tomorrow you will feed back to me on your ideas about the chapters. You can leave now…”
The class remained silent as they stood up walking towards the door. Kakashi watched her as she took out more paperwork and started to read through them.
“What exactly are you doing?”
“Well, a student came to me during lunch and handed me a bunch of essays, some had also been left for me while I was…in the state you found me earlier. Apparently…I have them tomorrow and the class were told to bring them to me first day back.”
“Huh…bad luck for you then I guess…”
“Yeah it is, now if you don’t mind I really must do this…”
“No, no it’s fine…don’t forget the meeting after school time.”
“Yeah sure…I’ll be there…”
Kakashi smiled going to leave. Georgia glanced at him as he stopped at the door and watched her again.
“Is there a problem…Mr. Hatake?” She asked placing the pen next to the essays.
“No problem, I’m going to go now, I have a class to teach next.”
“Of course, I’ll see you in the meeting later, where is it again?”
“I didn’t tell you that bit?” He asked her.
Georgia shook her head.
“Right, well it is in my room-”
“Next door. I know.” She nodded at him.
Kakashi pulled his book out reading it as he left the room walking slowly to his room.
