"What do you think they're talking about?" I asked, Kyle as we sat in my room while our parents talked.
"About us, probably." he said.
"I'm really sorry about all of this." I said, looking down at my hands.
"Don't be, it was my fault too. No matter what happens we'll face it together." he said, taking my hand and squeezing it.
"Come downstairs you two!" yelled my mom.
"Here we go." I said, getting up.
We walked downstairs and sat on the couch, while our parents stood above us.
"We want to know your plans for this baby?" asked Ms. James.
"I want to carry this baby full term, and I was thinking maybe I could give it up for adoption." I said.
"Are you sure that's what you really want to do?" asked my mom.
"I don't know. I just don't know if I can raise a baby." I said.
"Maybe we can." said Kyle.
"What?" I asked, turning to look at him.
"I think the two of us can raise a baby together." he said.
"We're not even dating." I said.
"So people who aren't dating have babies together all the time." he said.
"Kyle, do you understand what kind of responsibility that is. Having a baby is not something to joke about. And you two are only going to be 16 when this baby is born." said Ms. James.
"And what about school?" asked my dad.
"I think we can do it all." said Kyle.
"I don't know. If we were to keep this baby, we will both probably have to get jobs and quit sports." I said.
"I think it'll all be worth it." said Kyle.
"We all will help you as much as we can, but you two are going to have to do most of the work." said my mom.
"I know, and we can do it." said Kyle.
"Okay, let's keep it." I said.
"Hey, I need to talk to you." said Andy, coming up to me at my locker.
"What's up?" I asked, looking at his angry expression.
"Are you really pregnant?"
"What?" I asked, shocked.
"It's all over town, Abby's aunt said she saw you buying a pregnancy test with Kyle James. Did you cheat on me with him?"
"No, I swear. It was after you dumped me." I said, tears in my eyes.
"So you just couldn't wait for us to be broken up for five minutes before you had sex with another guy." he said, his voice getting louder and louder.
"I was drunk, it didn't mean anything. Lower your voice, please." I said, looking around at all the people staring at us.
"How could you do this to me! How could just be with some other guy like that!" he yelled.
"I told you it was a mistake and if my memory is correct, you dumped me." I said, getting angry.
"And that gave you the right to sleep with another guy?" he asked.
"Yeah, actually it did." I said.
"Is there a problem here?" asked Kyle, coming up.
"Oh, look at that, baby daddy to the rescue. I guess guys like you have a thing for sluts." said Andy.
"You just need to back off. I'm sorry that this is all happening, but there's no need for name calling." said Kyle.
"So what are you two going to be together or something?" he asked.
"No, we're just having a baby together." I said.
"Well, good for you, but don't expect me to stand around while you two make a little family." he said, walking away.
The tears finally spilled over and Kyle hugged me close to him. It was in that moment that I knew for sure that I had really messed up.
