Calum and I held hands as we walked along the side of the stream. This is a cute little date. I wonder where he came up with this idea.
He suddenly stopped in his tracks so I did too. "Want to sit down?" He offered. I nodded as he pulled a blanket out of his small bag and draped it over the damp ground. I sat down and he followed my actions, pulling me into a hug in the process.
"Do you know how much I love you?" Calum said, breaking the previous silence.
"I love you too." I smiled at him.
"No, like seriously... I've heard that so many times by so many different people but for the first time, this love feels real. Our love must be real. I have been so so much heartache, like we're in right now, and it's weakened me, but always made me stronger in the end. I've been told you can't truly love someone until you don't believe in it anymore. Melanie, I didn't believe in love... I did at first, but I lost my faith in it... Then you came along and now I believe. You make me believe that we're meant to be together." He sighed. I felt tears at the rims of my eyes. He's never this sweet. "Do you agree?"
"I agree." I smiled at him. Why is he so perfect?
"Well in that case..." He said while shifting his body to a kneeling position and pulling a small box out of his bag.
He isn't really about to...
"Melanie, will you marry me?" He tilted his head and smiled. Now I'm crying. This is so beautiful.
"Of course, Calum." I grinned as he placed the ring on my fourth finger.
"Yay!" He grinned and pulled me into a hug. I kissed him practically immediately.
I really don't deserve someone this good...
My phone buzzed obnoxiously and I picked it up to see Melanie calling. I answered it immediately, thinking maybe there's something wrong.
"Amy?" She said, sounding overjoyed... Overjoyed?!?
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Guess who's getting married." Melanie said cheerfully into the phone.
"No way!" I said grinning and standing up.
Ashton gave me an odd look. "Gossiping?"
"Uh, yeah gossiping! Gossiping about the fact that Melanie and Calum are getting married!" I yelped.
"You didn't know that?" Ashton said, looking a bit confused.
"No?" I said. "DUDE, ASHTON KNEW AND DIDN'T TELL ME!" I said to Melanie.
"Ashtonnnnnnnn." She whined through the phone.
"Well, I didn't want you to tell Melanie!" Ashton whined back and I laughed.
"I understand." I shrugged. "MELANIE, TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT!"
She explained the story and I kept cooing. They're so cute together.
"Oh my goodness Melanie, I'm so happy for you guys." I smiled even though she couldn't see me.
"Thank you. So am I." She said. We talked a bit longer, then hung up.
I turned to Ashton immediately. "Why is this right after..."
"Oh, he was going to do it before but now he just wants to lighten the general mood around here." Ashton shrugged.
"I just wish that it would already be light and that had never happened." I muttered.
"I know baby." He whispered, pulling me into a hug. "Me too."
